Congrats ErikaB! I am getting married in April 2012. I am sending out my STDs in April to give a years notice so friends & family can save. My invites are going to go out 2-3 months later. I want all the info out as soon as I have it for my guests.

Welcome ErikaB and congrats!!! Im getting married April 2012 and we are sending out our STD in march/april and then the invitations in Sept/Oct I think, haven't totally decided but around there. THen we are giving everyone all the info sooner than later! happy planning :)

Hi :)

 

We decided not to send out STD, instead we've created a blog and have been updating everyone that way. I simply sent the link out to everyone that is invited and remind them once in a while to check back.  I included things like: an introduction to the bridal party, things to do on the resort, places to book, passport applications.  I found it to be more information rather than  a STD card and we couldn't find anything we liked so....

 

I figure I will send my invites out about 6 months in advance because the resort needs a final count early enough, which is fine by me lol!

 

Also, one more thing... Have you guys started to think of favours? I've found a pretty neat one, it's a glass bottle that we plan to fill with the sand from the beach put a personalized label and ribbon on it and put it into these super cute bags, but i'm worried they will be/look cheap! I don't want my guest spending all this money to come to our wedding and leave with a bottle filled ith sand :(!

We would love to get married October 27, 2012 as it would be our 5th anniversary. Still looking at resorts, but Dreams La Romana is at the top. We wanted to wait until I'm out of school, so one and a half more years!

 

Feeling a little overwhelmed even though the date is so far away. My program is very time consuming and unfortunately that means most of the organizing will be on my fiance's shoulders. I'm in charge of research--and boy is there a lot of it out there! Glad I found this site. ^_^

 

How important are save the dates? Is it possible to send invites earlier instead of them?

Erika, I like the idea of your blog. We are doing STD email so that we can have all the info, there is no way you could get it all on a card. 

 

We are thinking of doing koozies as our wedding favor! with our names, date and either Riviera Maya or the name of our resort.

I have not thought about favors...I thought the oot bags were pretty much the favors..lol! Guess I need to find a thread on here for ideas!

I am doing koozies in my bags with our name & date on them. I have a link saved at work I can post. They offer different colors & you can personalize them too. hmmm maybe this doesn't have to be in the bags...

 

Andreanna I think if you want to get married there then go for it! Don't worry about everyone else...that can come later. As for the STDs I dont think you have to do anyone. If you send the invites out early enough its basically the same thing right! Good luck!! Remember it's your day so do what you want!

Congrats to you!!! I'am sending SDT a year early, for my Wedding is next May, 2012. Six months before my wedding I will send out invitations; for we are having our reception celebration four days after we come back from our destination wedding in Los Cabos. Which our reception is an all white reception, including guest.

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
