February, 2011 brides!

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! I just went dress shopping today and I think I found THE ONE! I am so excited, everything is starting to feel so real....

Jessicad -- sorry, I don't know much about that resort, but hopefully you can find more info here in the DR section.

jhartford19 -- the coordinator at the Majestic told me that the judge books one year in advance (February 2010 for February 2011). She also told me that the judge may change the date/time even after booking... we decided to go with the symbolic ceremony in the end because it just made things so much easier.

And hey YIweddings! Don't lose hope... I hope your next experience is better. And it's funny with dress shopping -- what I thought I wanted was not what really looked good on me. But I just tried everything on that the salesperson suggested and I fell in love! Please let us know how your next trip goes :)

I too plan on getting married in Punta Cana during the last week of February 2011. That's about all I've decided, YIKES! Do most people pick a wedding date on the weekend or does it really matter with a destination wedding? I was already feeling overwhelmed about picking a resort and actually setting a date. Now seeing how far along everybody's plans are I know I better light a fire under my butt! I'm wondering if everything will be booked up and I'm leaving this too late, any suggestions!?

@keight: I did all my planning under the assumption that weddings occurred on Saturdays. It wasn't until after I had submitted my request with my top 3 Saturdays to the resort, that I realized there was no reason why I had to get married on the Saturday. Since we were going to be at the resort for the full week, I could have chosen to get married any day. However, if you have a lot of people who may not be able to get time off work/school etc. The Thurs-Sun 4 day vacation may be better for them, which means Friday or Saturday would be the best day for the ceremony.

Happy planning!

There was actually a poll on this, and Saturday was the most popular day: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...married-46453/
I'm getting married on a Thursday though, because most of my guests will be travelling from Sunday - Sunday, so any day of the week would have worked. If you do choose your resort, why not see what days they have available and go from there?

1 more week until Westjet direct prices are ready from my home town at least. All other airlines would send us through Toronto and cost a bit more.

Better get my invites going!! I Have the paper, most of the text and design concept just need to send it to my friend/designer. What is taking me so long!

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking about getting married on a Monday. We arrive Saturday morning, so I am wondering if that will be too quick....I put the date as Monday on my save the dates, but it is no big deal since everyone will be there for the week! Has anyone looked into having a steel drum band perform...

It was recommended to me that if I arrive on a Saturday to get married on Tuedsay. It's enough time to settle in, have a welcome dinner, talk to your coordinator but not too long to get bad tan lines.

I think the point of a destination wedding is to relax and not worry with so many details so Monday sounds good. That way you can get it out of the way and have the rest of the week to simply me married.

I see several brides have booked their weddings at the Majestic Colonial! We've also been looking at this resort and the Dreams resort. How do you choose!? Would anyone mind providing reasons why you chose your particular resort!

Thanks!

Hi ladies, and congrats!!

We have just booked our air/accomodations this week, we booked through Sell Off Vacations, its a direct flight from Winnipeg to Punta!!! Yippeee!! I sent the email off to the Majestic Elegance as we want to do a Symbolic ceremony and secure Feb 25,2011!! Our travel dates are Feb 20-27 for our guests, and we will stay another week to have our honeymoon!!!

I purchased my dress a couple weeks, and similar to other ladies...it was NOT the style I was looking for!! It's strapless, and Im a bit bigger chested, so I wanted to stay away from that style! But after the style I wanted didn't really suit my body....I listened to the consultant and went for strapless, and love it!!! It was really a great exprience! i tried on a total of 7 dresses, narrowed it to 3 right off the hop, took pics, loved all three dresses at different times,...then by the end of week, i narrowed it to one...went back and tried it on...and DONE DEAL!! lol

We sent our save the dates in Feb, and are waiting for our invitation design to come back to us...hmmmm, what else.. We are going to book with HDC Photo in Punta, there seem to be great reviews on here about them! and I think we are going to do the dinner and reception on LaBarcaza boat....

So thats where we are at!!! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
