Cake Flavors and Fillings for Aventura Spa Palace

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies

I have received from the WC a very plain jane template of cake flavors we can choose. However, what I would like to know from any past brides if you were able to talk them into doing anything a little more adventurous? What kind of cake did you do and with what fillings? Did they charge you more for it? If you did choose one of their options, how was it? When you write your experience, please tell me if you are really picky about your desserts/food or if you are impressed easily. This will help me a lot in knowing what to decide.

Thanks a bunch!

I'm getting married at Moon Palace, so I assume that the cake choices are the same for all of the Palace resorts in Cancun. So far, I've seen MP brides post that they've had vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cake flavors, but no details about the filling. Being a novice cake decorator, I happen to know that you can purchase cake filling. It comes packaged in a large plastic baggie. Cake decorating supply stores carry it. If you want something a bit more exotic, you can request it from your local bakery. Just check the custom requirements to see if you can take it into the country. If they say yes, pack it well!

If you can bring decor: ribbon, toppers, etc. for your cake, I don't see why they wouldn't accept the filling from you too!

Southern Sweetie

All it said was "Cake included/Flavor: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Fruit, Lemon, or Cheese."

I am a pastry chef, so my expectations are a lot higher than the average joe, so I hear you on being a dessert snob. It looks like they included the cake flavors and fillings in one sentence, otherwise I'm going to be really nervous about what to expect! I just want it to taste good. So far, tres leches is my first choice, but it's not listed. But, I was really curious to see what other brides have/had chosen for fillings.

I don't want to bring my own filling; it's too much of a hassle, thanks for the tip though. I know I would be disappointed too because I would want it freshly made and not out of a container.

Wow! You're a pastry chef!

Based on the cakes that I've seen from other bride's photos, it doesn't appear that any of the Palace resorts employ a pastry chef, which leads me to believe that whoever does the cakes just sticks to the basics. I did hear that the cakes actually tasted good, but of course, "good" is a relative term.

You may want to post your question on the threads of previous and recent Palace brides too. I frequent the Moon Palace 2010 Brides (lots of recent brides) thread and Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 thread. Believe it or not, this thread is still active and getting posts. I hope that others see this post too, because I'm very interested.

Good Luck!

I remembered reading this in a message from tinkatude awhile back and thought I would re-post what she said.

"I also told them to KICK up the cake taste up a notch...I picked a menu and changed things around...took things out and added things in...things that were in the restaurants that I liked to eat...also I had a three tier cake chocolate with chocolate mousse...(the bottom tier) the middle tier was pineapple cheesecake and the top was vanilla with vanilla pudding...my least favorite."

I would love to hear of more experiences from other ASP brides!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
