Hi DEWed,

I'm possibly looking into Moon Palace for a wedding in 2014. How did you get in contact with them for prices because i cant seem to see an email... thanks! Annette

Hi annetea1021

I wasn't interested in any of their approved photographers so I didn't ask for their contact. The only photographer's information I have is wedding1@palaceresortsweddingphotos.com who is called Ocean Photo Studio. But once your wedding coordinator contact you, they will send you a list of all the different vendors you contact for your wedding day. (ie. decorations, music, tour bookings, etc). It might be a little early for you to contact these vendors as they will not have a wedding coordinator to send your information to.

You basically speak with everyone separately and they send you a final order/invoice for your approval and then they send it over to your wedding coordinator who takes care of everything from there. They will charge you everything together. Hope that makes sense.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help with. I just got back from my wedding at Moon a couple weeks ago and it was amazing!

That does make sense! I'm doing the complimentary package. Do you know if we can bring our own photographer, instead of using theirs? I have my own photographer that is a guest as well and I am bringing to Mexico.

Hey there again, We are also bringing our own photographer, but we haven't told the resort that in so many words. What i have learned the most thru this forum and thru personal experience is to be as vague as possible until the month or 2 before you leave.....From what I hear they try to charge a $500 fee if you bring your own photographer, however the way we rationalize this is that he is a paying guest who is staying at their property and so happens to have a camera. When they asked if we were using their photographer we simply told them we were entrusting our guests with capturing our special day. And that was that, they said good luck and if we changed our minds to let them know. Our friend/photographer is staying Monday to Friday, so we paid $1488 for his room, so in my eyes they got more than $500 of my dollars but it also worked in our favor because that was 4 nights added to our room block which helped us reach our unlimited events!!!

If your photographer is a guest you don't have to pay the $500.00 vendor fee. It's only if they are not staying at the resort.

Good to know. So do you think we still need to tell them anything?

No. Just tell them if they ask. They asked me if I wanted photography services and I just said no one of our guests will be taking photos for us. I find it was best to tell them as little as possible until the day you meet with your onsite coordinator or they'll try to charge you for EVERYTHING.

I agree with you...my fiancé made the mistake of telling them we were bringing our own center pieces so she said there would be a $150 set up fee per table!!! I told him I wasn't going to tell them- just show up with the decorations and see what they said. So needless to say she put that in our final PO- "if bringing decorations please note $150 set up fee per table to have your onsite coordinator set up" I'm hoping when they see it's actually real simple that they won't charge me. All I'm doing is using the pomander flower balls that I made for my flower girls and putting them on top of a pretty silver candle stick I bought at target. So simple, shoot i can even have one of my guests set it up real quick for me lol. Its definitely not $150 worth of set up fees per table for 4 tables. Like you said they find any reason to charge you so the less you tell them on the little stuff the better.

I've ordered from an outside florist, and was thinking that one of the guests can set them up for me. They will be in vases so just need to be placed on the table. I was thinking of having decorations from Zuniga who also charge $150 for set up but that's just a one off cost. I'm really fretting now that they will try and charge $500 ;(

You have to pay $500 just for using an outside vendor. This isn't for set up. They charge $150 to set up anything you want during the reception. I just said I would have family and friends help with the flowers and didn't pay the set up fee. But at the end of the day our florist set up our ceremony centerpieces. and somebody ended up setting up our reception centerpieces (I'm assuming the decorations company we used).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
