Feb or May?

Hello, all

We are from Seattle area, and have never been to Hawaii.

We originally were thinking of February 9, 2011, then I heard weather isn't the best around that time. The way I imagine my wedding day, it would have blue sky, and reception around sunset hour. As soon as I heard that it might be raining reason around that time which mean dark sky, we are thinking maybe we should postpone it to beginning of May. Anyone had wedding in Maui in February? How was the weather then? Any advice? Looking forward to hear from you ladies

I have been to Maui a few times and I have noticed there is a big differerence in amount of rain and sunshine in certain months. I found that January had much more rain and way less sunshine then April did. As well, I found that January tended to be a bit busier with more people then April. Do you know what area of Maui you are interested in getting married? We always stay in the Wailea area and that area tends to get a bit less rain then areas such as Lahaina. Another thing to consider is temperature. Temperature during February will be a bit cooler then in May.

Thank you Jay45 for your response. We are thinking of Wailea / Makena area. Although I haven't figure out the location yet. I really liked the White Orchid Beach House, however, their planner service is very pricy. I am looking to see if there are similar houses around that area with a beach front which I can rent for a wedding.

We were married in Maui this past February and the weather was beautiful - high 70s to low 80s each day. The only time we saw any precipitation was at the top of the inactive volcano (Haleakala National Park). I had the opposite experience as jay45. We found that West Maui (Lahaina, Kaanapali) was much sunnier and drier than the Wailea/Makena area. In particular, there is a long, narrow cloud that comes off of Haleakala and stretches over the Big Beach and Makena area extending over the ocean. We tried to snorkel twice in that area and it was cloudy and cold (high surf too). We turned around and headed back to West Maui to beautiful weather conditions. Our wedding planner was Deanne from Precious Maui Weddings and our reception was at Plantation House.

I've been to Maui in late February, early March, April, May and June. The weather in Maui only varies a few degrees throughout the year. I actually found that I liked the weather better in Feb, March and April than in May and June. It didn't rain at all while I was there in Feb, March or April (and actually rained some this past May when I was there) and was less windy (when I went in June a year ago it was hot and really, really windy). I think it all depends on the week, though. If I had a choice I would have planned by wedding for March or April - since I thought the weather was so great those months. However, with school, etc, I'm having to plan it in August. It seems to be much more expensive to fly to Maui during the summer months.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
