Riu Palace Cabos Questions..Help!!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

We finally decided on having the big day in Riu Palace Cabos! We haven't committed to it yet because we still havent had the prices sent to us. Seems that the WC is on the slow side (very slow) in responding to my questions. Has anyone had this problem? We are going with the Caprice 2010 package. Has anyone been married there? Can someone pls help in answering some of my questions?

1- We have about 50+ guests. How much is it per person for open bar and the reception? We want to have it at either Baja Sur or Baja Norte. The pricing is what we really want to know to make sure its within the budget.

2 - I know they no longer allow outside vendors, how is the photographer and DJ?

3 - We have ours at 2 which Im not to happy about because the wait for cocktail and reception time is too long apart. Can you pick what times to have these or are they set? If thats the case, we might have to pick a different day for slot at 4-5pm

Any other info anyone has to share would really really be helpful! Thanks so much!!! =)

Congratulations! I am also having my wedding there this July for the Royal Package.

I also have exactly the same concerns as you regarding the DJ, photographer and the time apart from the wedding and reception. I am currently still waiting for the Riu Palace Cabo Wedding Planner to get back to me. After confirmation of our wedding date, she didn't introduce herself until after 3-4 weeks. It seems they are slow in replying unless your wedding date is earlier..

I am really nervous myself especially my wedding date being 3 months away.

If I hear back from her before you do, I'll post the answers I myself am also wondering.

congrats!!!!

after reading some of the reviews from here and tripadvisor, the WC doesnt usually get in contact with the wedding party until 2 months before the big day...this totally blows if this is the case because i would be so nervous in trying to plan things and KNOWING what exactly is going on!! did they at least give you a number for the price per person for the reception and open bar? where are you having your wedding and reception?

2 months before the big day!!! That's not good! and here I thought I already booked so late. Most people plan their wedding a year in advance.

Since its all-inclusive I would hope and think the food would be free. hehe.. In regards to the open bar no price yet.. I was thinking why they would charge us for an open bar when alcohol is free? My wedding will be at the Gazebo.. for the reception, not sure yet. Waiting for her to answer a few of my questions.

What about you? Have you decided on a wedding location and reception? Photographer?

I was thinking going to away would less stressful.. but in some ways I think the stress level is the same or even worst!!!

Hi Gettingmarried,

My first and only e-mail is from Karla aside from Paola who confirmed it. It seems like they need more staff helping them. Destination weddings are becoming to be more popular especially Canadians.

I'm on July 29!! We are just a week from each other!! This is fantastic!! Are you planning to go with Mango Productions for photos? Hair and Makeup?

It's honestly ridiculous how we have to be there 3 business day before we can get married. If they make it at least only 1 day.. they would get more business.

I'll see you there then we are staying for 2 weeks leaving Aug 1! I ended up booking my wedding over a year ago when they still aloud you to bring your own photographer, so they said they will honour it. I'm booked with Dino Gomez. I'm getting my hair and makeup with Suzanne Morel I guess shes really close to the hotel so we will just take a cab.We are having a private reception on the beach what about you?

Cool!! See you there! Lucky you! you were able to bring your own photographer.. I too am going to go with Suzanne Morel. I am currently co-ordinating with her. Heard she is fantastic! Reception, I still don't know... I was thinking San jose restaurant or the baja north which is the beach. That's why I am still waiting for her to answer my questions. I was a bit late in planning my wedding and just started in January. =<<<

Are you having your wedding at the beach or Gazebo? Mine will be at the Gazebo.

You planning any group excursions with your guest and bridal party? Any suggestions? I am very conflicted of what to do. Wanted to at least do one thing with everyone.

By the way, did you send your documents yet? Do we need our Birth Certificate notarized in spanish and english?

Hey there,

I'm getting married there on June 30th - it's coming up fast!

If you're not having your event at a restaurant, (e.g. baja norte or the beach) you will have to pay for the food. I believe it was something like $50pp. I believe the package only covers wine - mixed drinks are not included. I don't mind tellling my guests that they have to go to the bar to get their own mixed drinks. I also heard that if you tip the waiters they'll just bring them to you. I can't remember the exact price for open bar - but I do remember it was something ridiculous...per person, per hour.

I'm bringing my own photographer from Toronto - he's staying with us so there was no problem with bringing him. As for the DJ, we are using our own iPod. Also, we were allowed to select our 4pm timeslot to get married.

Daniella appears to be gone now. Karla has started emailing me as well and she is VERY slow at responding. I'm hoping she'll get better since our wedding is now only 2 months away!

The wedding will be on the beach. Yup we sent our documentation already, yes the BC had to be translated into Spanish and notarized. I hope I don't have to give them anything else...no one has told me otherwise. I'm a little nervous about it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
