What would you say is the "average" amount of time to plan?

Recommended Posts

I guess it does depend on what resort you choose and what comes in the package, group size, distance to travel etc....

We got engaged in july 2009, booked asap, think it was sept 09 so our guest would have plenty of time to save and plan mostly? Hoe this helps there is so many things out there saying all sorts of timelines, definately depends on ur circumstances and budget I would say most importantly.

best of luck and happy planning.

We got engaged in February '09, but didn't decide on a DW until May. We choose a cruise wedding in June, booked our cruise & wedding package for August 2010 and sent out save the dates right away. We wanted our guests to have as much time as possible to save money. We sent out invitations last week so anyone not coming on the cruise would still have time to change their mind and book. So it will be 14 months from the time we started planning to our wedding day.

We got engaged last Saturday of Sep 08 and got married first Saturday of May 09. So planning was 7 months. The first month was dedicated to picking a destination, resort, an date. We sent STD right away (electronically). November was the dress month, December was the on-site visit, food tasting, wineries visits, and meeting with wedding planner and minister. The last four months were dedicated to the rest of it - the website at the beginning of January, and mostly shopping (mostly online ! BM and GM outfits and gifts, rings, FI outfit, flower girl and ring bearer outfit, OOT bags, flowers, cake topper, etc), all the DIY stuff (invites, programs, table numbers, place cards, welcome booklets etc), and fine tuning (picking music, first song, readings, writing ceremony, picking lounge, chairs, table plans etc). It was just perfect amount of time for me and avoided me to go crazy with a too long planning - or procrastinating.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
