I'm planning on just having whatever the resort does standard. I've talked to some people who were married there & used the standard package. They said it was beautiful. But, my expectations are not high. I think it depends on your preferences. If you have high standards & want to make sure your wedding is just how you want it, don't expect a destination wedding to easier than planning an at home wedding.

I think we have all found the hotel WCs are slow to reply to emails. I wanted to get my date scheduled right away, so I called the hotel. Buy a calling card that is good for calling mexico. If you just use your cell phone, it will be expensive. I used yahoo messenger voice, but I had to prepay $10. I think it was 6 cents per minute, but I have a remaining balance I don't really need now.

For example, I found out the prices of the flowers at the resort and they are very expensive and not very nice. So, I emailed the WC and she said I can use an outside florist. I'm in the process now of finding another florist in Jamaica and getting a quote for what I want. It seems like I will save a lot of money! As for the photographer, I am stuck with the one at the resort b/c they don't allow outside photographers, which I'm not happy about and didn't know til this forum. My advice would be to get in touch with the WC at the resort and find out as much as you can about what they offer. Then talk to some brides that are getting married or have been married there and see what they did. Good luck!!!
Double check with them b/c I have another bride that I'm in contact with that is getting married at your same resort & as long as your photographer stays there for the minimum # of nights (3), you don't have to use the resort photog.

Definately get a detailed list of services and prices from your WC and go from there. And find out if there are extra charges for outsside vendors (day passes and such). I had my WC email me pics of the flowers included in our wedding package and I was very happy with them. My husband and I eloped so I was only concerned about my bouquet and Jay's boutinere (my spelling sucks..lol). If your'e doing a lavish affair, it may help to shop around for a florist. I definately would recommend getting an outside photog. We did and we got many more pics, a lower price and such beautiful pics by going with Vanessa Vargas! Have fun and hapy planning!

I am high school teacher and I always say to them: there are no stupid questions... just stupied answers in some cases! In you case, you have very important questions that all future brides ask themselves when they start to plan their wedding.

Lets face it, we are planning a wedding that will be miles and miles from where we live ! Who knows what's out there ? Whe can't always afford to go to a few resorts before reserving the one for our wedding... sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

That is why this forum is so great ! People share their thoughts + experiences and those help alot!

Once you decide on the hotel you want, you can read about the reviews and even see some pictures of weddings and those help ! Also, ask the hotel which photographer they use. Most of the time, they don't always do pictures at that hotel... and most of them have an internet site so you can see their work (not just weddings).

Another advice, don't be so picky about the flowers... once you're there, what you want might not be available unless you pick commun flowers of the area ! Usually, once you are there, the WC will sit with you ask you what you would like (depending on what they can offer you).

Enjoy your planning !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
