Bringing Real Rings With You?

Recommended Posts

My TA suggested we exchange fake or costume jewellery rings for our ceremony in case anything happens to the real ones while we're away.

My preference is to use our real ones, because using fake ones feels..."fake"... but I guess I can see where she's coming from, it's in case we lose them, damage them or attract robbers or something.

I'm just wondering if anyone has considered this and if its worth thinking of doing.

Are you taking your engagement ring with you too?

I agree be sure to insure your ring. Gem Shield and Chubb are the two best jewelry insurers and trusted and used by a large number of Diamond and Gem brokers for years, but they also have individual policies for people and I have found that in the event something does happen they cut you a check right away....unlike most other insurance companies. Make sure you insure everything and you'll be fine no matter what happens.

We're bringing our real rings as well. My e-ring is already insured and we're adding my band on shortly. FI's ring is under $200. Just be smart about what you do with your ring. I would not take my e-ring off at all to sleep or shower so it's always with me. We're also planning on "locking" our bands in a suitcase locked inside another suitcase. I'm not bringing any other real jewelry. Trying not to make ourselves huge targets...man I sound paranoid!

yes, i would like to have them in photos too. i have my e-ring insured already, we have yet to choose bands but great knowing that it's not something i'm the only one worried about!

definately have to not be flashy about them around town and good thinking about not taking it off....i take it off before sleeping because i use a heavy hand cream at night due to eczema....will have to work around that while there.

thanks!

We are bringing our rings also. I understand what your TA is saying, but I kind of think you need your WEDDING rings for your WEDDING. Imo.

If you insure all your rings and don’t ever take off your e-ring you should be fine. Maybe there will be a safe in your room so you can lock up the bands till the ceremony and any other jewelry you have.

We wore our rings when traveling (even wedding bands because I once had a friend that had her bands stolen going through security when going to her wedding in NY) and put the bands in the room safe. Otherwise, I agree bring your rings with you - I wouldn't want to get married with a fake ring either.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
