How did you meet your FI / DH?

Eleven years ago my roommate and I threw a cookie exchange party before Christmas and she invited her co-workers. I was upstairs talking to my cousin and this guy is coming up the stairs and hit her and said, "I don't know who he is but he's kind of cute". He then walked right up to me and introduced himself and we've been together ever since. Turns out he had a heads up on me and had a thing for redheads and from my roommate talking about me he thought I sounded interesting and that we had similar taste in things like music. My roommate and I did not and she used to complain at work about it.

The next day we were talking about the various cookies everyone brought and my favourite one of the night turned out to be the cookies he brought. Love over cookies, I guess it was meant to be.

Awww...this is a fun thread!

My FI and I were set up by a mutual acquaintance. She and I were at a friend's birthday party, chatting away, and I mentioned that I was sick of dating d-bags and asked her if she knew any nice boys. She told me she had a friend named Sean who had just asked her the other day if she knew any nice girls, because he wanted to find someone to be with long-term...sounds like we both had the same idea! Anywho, she told me his full name, I went home and stalked him on Myspace. I couldn't really tell which one he was, because all of his pictures were group shots with a bunch of his friends. Luckily, everyone I saw in the pictures was attractive, so I figured it'd be a fun surprise finding out which one it was :)

The next day, a group of us made plans to go out to this seedy little bar in our hometown. We both knew that we were being fixed up, so he sat down next to me at the table, and we talked all night. Non-stop. Literally, until 4 in the morning (after the bar we'd gone to a friend's house). We kissed good night, and he was a PHENOMENAL kisser cheesy.gif. He called me two days later, cooked me dinner, and we've been together almost every day ever since (that was 2.5 years ago)

My daughter went to the same daycare as his neice. His twin brother's daughter. Actually my daughter and his neice are BFF's they are 6 and 7 and have known each other since they were 2. Well one day his sister in law called me and she wanted us to met ( I had already met him at one of his neice's b-day parties) and like talk on a more friendly note. That girl was on my phone for about one hour trying to convince me that he was a good guy and give him a try.

The following day she arranged a trip to the beach for us to bring the kids and she had him come up there. So I couldnt avoid him. Actually I am soo HAPPY I met him he is my ANGEL! (Beyonce song) We had really good conversation that day and we just connected. We have been inseparable ever since. smile123.gif

Hehehe...I'm like you Jackie C...we met a bar. I was bartending (while in graduate school) and was wearing some not so "dad approved" attire...so you can guess the type of establishment.

He was there to fix our touch-screen ordering/payment system. He asked me to write down a list of things I wanted changed with my screens and he'd be back for it. I took him seriously, so I wrote them down, but he never came back.

About two weeks later, I saw him again when he came in to fix something and I wasn't so nice to him this time because I thought he wasn't good on his word. I basically just shook my head at him and told him he was just like every other guy in the place and it was his mission to prove to me that I was wrong. And boy, was I WRONG!!!!!

He is THE most phenominal man I've ever met in my life. Period.

So technically, we met at a bar, but I can say "we met at work" too!

What I like most about how we met is that he never judged me based on what I was doing or where I was working. He didn't know (until I told him later on) what my "day job" was until I told him.

Nice! Yes, we did meet at the bar, but we were both employees there and didn't start dating until long after we stopped working there. Bartending is a GREAT way to pay graduate school fees! I used the gogo dancing money to pay my tuition too and got a Biochem degree cheesy.gif

U sound like a brainy babe, no wonder your FI is in love!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
