May 2011 Brides!

When my TA did my room block she asked me to specifically list where I wanted to block my rooms. I just told her that my guest wanted to be where the action is and that we would prefer the Grand section. When she sent me the contract for my room block It showed that the quest were reserved for the Sunrise section. I was even able to request the specific room that I wanted on the Grand Side (I saw a review on Trip Advisor and it is one of the few rooms on that side that actually has a view of the ocean).

Everyone seems to know where they are staying.  I do not know what my TA is doing, but she told me that we will not know which section we are in until everyone books.  She assured me there is a room block.  I'm confused.  She says she has booked a bunch of wedding at Moon, so I guess I just have to trust her.

Oh wow! I just talked to my TA a few mins ago and she was very vague about it.  She said there is a room block of 20-25 rooms (haha..what does that even mean, shouldn't there be an exact number?).  She said they will figure out exactly where once everyone is booked.  I think that basically means my guests are just going to get whatever rooms are available.  I don't know.  I really like my travel agent though.  She books weddings at MP all the time so I guess she knows what she's doing.  I'm not going to stress about it.

I wouldn't stress at all. They are professionals. And everyone has their own little ways of doing things. The good thing is that when they do room blocks they generally put everyone in the same area. We are all going to have a great time. No worrys!!!

You're right..  If I should be stressing about anything it should be getting to the gym and making sure I can wear a bikini that week!

I ordered my dress, made std's and almost finished with my invites and plan to mail them 1st week of November. I did a site visit in July where I met my coordinator Cristina...I was able to book the ceremony and reception locations so far. I have ordered my favors and OOT bags and some fillers for them. I hope to have a final decision on my MOH dress by the end of the month. We have taken our e-pics (twice). I have decided on a DJ, just have to send in my deposit after I receive the contract. Originally I was going to use Octavio, but after seeing so many other photographers work...I am now undecided. I am torn between Juan Navarro, Luz Maria Avila and Octavio. I am also looking into bringing my own photographer to get 3 days worth of pics. I got a really good offer from MarieSam Sanchez from this forum...Her pics are beautiful. If anybody that will be there around my dates want to split travel costs....PM me. MarieSam is a member of this forum, does great work and is really accomodating. Please PM me if interested on sharing her as a photographer. How is everyone else's planning coming along?

Hi beautiful brides!! smile159.gif

I'm from Montreal, Canada and my fiance and I are getting married May 5th, 2011!! It's getting so close now!! I was wondering if anyone here is getting married at the Barcelo Maya by any chance? It would be great to hear about someone else's experience. I'm having a hard time getting info from the wedding coordinators.

Congrats to you all and look forward to chatting! smile123.gif

Wow, you are way ahead of me on planning.  I just booked Octavio last week.  I read great reviews of him and his prices are fantastic!  I will take a look at Maria Sanchez though.  I sent out my std in March and just mailed my invitations a few weeks ago.  My dress and bm dresses have been ordered and ard due in to us in January.  That's about it.  I have been looking at ideas for OOT bags, favors and flowers, but haven't decided on anything yet. What ceremony and reception locations did you choose?  That's next on my list to decide.  Are you using an outside DJ or does the resort have DJ's to choose from?  I read that some girls hired outside DJ's, but I'm worried about doing that.

I agree Octavio's prices are great. You also have a good amount of things planned so far! I chose the Tucan Gazebo for the ceremony and the Carribean Terrace for the cocktail hour and reception. I was going to go with discomovil for DJ because their prices are great, but I have just read some really great reviews on DJ Ivan from Dorremix. However, he would cost almost double of what the other DJ charges. Apparently, he has to charge a specific rate for Moon Palace..which he gave me a quote of $900 for 4 hrs. I am emailing him some more questions before I make final decision. The DJ is important and can make or break a party!

I completely agree.   How are you getting around using an outside DJ though?  Do you  mind sending me the DJ info.  Also, is there an additional setup fee for teh Carribean Terrace?  I love it, but I was told it would be an extra $12 pp setup fee.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
