I can't believe how quickly time is flying by! I feel like there is so much to do, and not enough time!!

Still need to send out the invitations (they will be going out before the end of this month); finalizing the decor, programs, and some of the fun things like getting the bridesmaid dresses, and my own accessories!!!!

Ugh!  Premature excitement!  I saw that Gran Bahia Principe part and thought we'd be there at the same time...well, we will be; we will just be at the one in Jamaica!  LOL!  Congrats!

Just have to take it as it comes, it'll all work out!

over the weekend i've decided to not let the legal and pre-wedding AHR take anything away from out "real" wedding in Mexico! i'm usually a positive person and worrying is stressing me out. i think it has caused me to have bad dreams about the wedding, so to cheer myself up I ordered the hair flower i've been eyeing on etsy cheesy.gif

you shouldn't worry either! just pick 2 people important to you and can keep a secret.

i'll be looking out for you on Leslie's blog!  wink.gif

I'm worried about how I am going to keep it a secret too. I would be okay with just telling our parents and siblings about our "legal" wedding date and have them there as our witnesses. Only problem is there is no way FIs parents or brother will be able to come visit us prior to the wedding. I'd feel bad only having my family there and not his. We are thinking of just asking two friends to be our witnesses.... but if my mom found out I think she would be really upset!!

I think having a pre-wedding AHR is a great idea! But I totally understand what you mean about it taking away from your Mexico wedding! If I were more organized I would love to have a pre-wedding reception. Kind of like a way for people who can't come to wish you well and a farewell party in one!

I keep worrying that people will feel ripped off if they know that our Mexico wedding is symbolic and not legal. Even though I'm sure most people would understand when you tell them about all the hoops you have to jump through, and extra costs! My biggest fear about getting married legally in Mexico is the stories about people having to wait 6-8 months just to get their wedding certificate! Yikes!

We're definitely doing the legal ceremony here.  We haven't decided who will be there but we'll just have two witnesses, keep it very simple and very hush hush.  (sidenote: my grandmother is already telling everyone my wedding in Mexico "isn't a real wedding"  because it's not in a church.  hahaha  sigh).  Also, I've looked at the wording required by BC Law to get married and am going to ask that only the absolute required wording to be legally married is done - no kiss the bride (we plan to high-five), no emotional vows etc.  For me, the legal ceremony is NOT our wedding and I don't want anything to take away from the actual DAY.  cheesy.gif

All that said, maybe there's a minister who would do it in an office or something totally unromantic  hahaha!  :-)

Good luck in making your choices on this girls.  I think it's really a personal decision how one goes about it.

I need your advice ladies. We weren't going to register for gifts, but now by the request of guests who cannot attend the wedding we have changed our mind. I want to add some wording on the registry page on our website to let people know that they do not have to buy us any gifts and their attendance is more than enough. Any suggestions as for how to word this so it comes out right?

We have decided to register, but I somehow want to let people know that they don't have to buy anything. My relatives in my home country that won't be able to make it are already asking about what kind of gifts we would like so I want to add our registry on the website so that it will be easier for them. I got a couple of suggestions on another thread where I posted this question, but I am still looking for something else.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
