I ordered a Maggie...it took the exact quote of six months to come in; I ordered the end of January and it was here the 2nd week of July.  So as it was mentioned...I would definately start looking if you like that line!

I didn't do STD for the DW.  I am sending out STD's next week for our AHR that we are having in June.  I kinda thought I would be thrifty (or perhaps some may view it as cheap...can't please everyone) but I am including the STD's inside the envelopes for the invitations to Jamaica...I am just beyond amazed by all the people that some of you ladies already have booked!  We just got ourselves booked...how did you motivate people to do it so early!?

I haven't even started looking for a dress, but have been checking out the knock-off dresses thread on this forum and I think that is the way I want to go. I still have to decide on a style though, but first STDs.

What did you all do for STDs? I'm thinking of doing postcards on Vistaprint since they are free and then do my own passport invites.

We didn't even do STDs! I really wanted to, but with the way our quote worked we just didn't have the time. We sent out two group emails with the 'Save the Date' info and the booking info, and we also had a website up and running very early on. I wish we'd been able to do STDs because there are so many great ideas for them! We are spending more on our invites as a result (passports, I will post pics when they arrive!)

We got people to book early because they kind of had to, lol. Our group rate is amaaaazing (through Westjet, a Canadian airline) but they have to put down deposits by mid-September, and the rest is due in January. We need 10 rooms (20 people - yikes) to get the group rate, so I was a little stressed that it wouldn't happen because people wouldn't want to book commit right now - and then no one would get the great rate. But we have 8 rooms booked, and more that will be booking in the next week or so, so I think we'll be fine. After 10 rooms are booked then I really don't care when/how people book! We gave an RSVP of Jan 31, so it still gives us lots of time to plan knowing the #s.

Some stores will sell you anything, and others only carry samples and you will need to order. I actually just bought my dress this past weekend! :) It's an 'Ella', and it will only arrive in January. That leaves me the suggested 2 months for any alterations that might be necessary, and some extra 'padding' in case anything goes wrong!

It all depends on you, and what you're comfortable with. The dress is the last thing I wanted to be stressing about! Plus it's tons of fun to shop for, why put it off? :) Lol

Here's my dress:

That dress looks fabulous on you!

I finally picked a new photographer! I hate that I've had over a year already of planning because I was so sure of everything in the beginning and now I'm changing my mind a lot...oops, the worst part is it's costing me $$....oh well I'm going to try and slow down a bit so I don't try to change anything else.

Primavera- I did vista print magnets they are approximately 5 1/2" by 4" with my Monogram done by Allurements by Rebecca.  I added information to them including our website and they came out really fabulous.  The quality a lot better than I imagined!  Go for it.  I think we are going to do Boarding Passes as our invitations with the perforated side as the RSVP.  Not sure yet.

I love the magnets but we're on a tight budget with a long guest list, so I thought 100 free postcards would be a more economical option ;) I have considered doing STDs by email as well, since we will hopefully send out the invites in another month or two. 50% or more of our guest list are in Europe so it would save time, money and be environmental friendly :) Not sure how to make an email still look pretty though....oh, decision, decisions.....

Congratulations fellow May 2011 Brides :)

I'm happy I found you all to chat with. I'm a newbie & I wanna share my info:

I have booked my wedding at the Royal in Cancun for May 23, 2011. Got the photog and the dress. Waiting to get group rates from the resort to send out the passport invites - check out Ana de Roux's Passport Invitations... she's sooo creative! Can anyone tell me who they're using as a DJ and videographer and what you're doing for centerpieces? Gosh, I'd rather not spend $100 per floral centerpiece to have it go to waste at night... know what I'm saying????

Welcome elbachow!!

Primavera, i did the postcard stds from vistaprint and everyone loved them!  It ended up costing me $34 for the shipping and because i got the envelopes pre-printed with our return address.  Such a great deal and they were so cute.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
