November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

Recommended Posts

I can't believe how time is flying either! I was hoping to get my invites out last month but didn't manage it. I'm planning to send out my invitations by next week at the latest so that I can get responses back for the reception caterer; I sent out STDs in December/January.

Have any of you sent out your invitations yet? If not when do you plan on sending them? I'm hoping for mid July, so 4 months ahead (save the dates were sent in March), does that sound about right for a destination wedding?

I turned my kitchen into a mini factory last night, LOL! I had myself, fiance and MOH sitting around the kitchen table working on our DIY invites. Man ssssoooooo much work, but we got a lot done. I was so hard on them, no eating or drinking at the table, was terrified something would spill! They really must love me because they are still talking to me today after what I put them through last night! cheesy.gif
I have my family visiting me from Ireland, we are all in Boston at the moment so we are going to head off today and look for the men's outfits, and hopefully jewelry/veil/shoes for me, and I think if I get that done with the invites sent out I'll be in a much better place.
I look back and think how dillusional I was when I thought planning a destination wedding would be easy and stress free!

Wow sounds like everyone on here is getting down to business. I just booked my flight with Jetblue but I was looking into Virgin, but I don't think they fly into Cancun only Los Cabos. I could be wrong and they haven't posted it or u r not flying from where I am. Virgin is def. a nice airline to fly on! Good luck with planning. I guess I need to get on it and get those invitations done and mailed out. Im slackin!!

I was so excited to find this thread.  More brides to discuss things with.  :)

11~18~11 at Aventura Palace Resort.

18 is a very important number to both of us so our wedding date had to be on the 18th.  I even skipped over 6 months (thought 6-18-11 originally) just to find another 18th on a good day LOL.

Anyways....I briefly browsed thru the thread and I am so excited to see other Palace brides on here.

Planning is going well but like most of you everything is figured out and now I just have to wait to find out how many guests are showing up.

 - Buying my dress this Tuesday (super excited to check that off)

 - Bridesmaid dresses are narrowed down to 4 dresses from the same designer

 - Passport Invites are done (on the computer) but waiting for a new cute picture of us to put on them before printing

 - Invites getting mailed out in June with an RSVP of 8/18/11 which gives me 3 months to buy the things I need

 - Already have my wedding shoes and back up flip flops

 - Making BM gifts (bedazzling flip flops, wristlets, etc.)

 - FI has his white linen suit already :)

 - Already have La Luna booked for my photographer and I am super excited about that

 - We are waiting for Virgin America to come out with their November pricing for flights down to Cancun - super cheap!!

 - We are booking our flights home this weekend using our Jetblue points (FREEEEEEE!!!)

 - We have 8 ppl booked so far

Right now all my stress is coming from the AHR.  FI and I are paying for our wedding and his parents are offering to pay for the AHR.  It's going to be big and formal and it's stressing me out!!  I am trying to leave it all up to FI and his parents to decide on budget and location and other things but I am the type of person that needs to be in control so I am doing so much research and contacting places and getting pricing but its pretty much up to them so I feel like I'm just spinning the wheels and going no where.  UGH!! wacko.gif  But I want to make sure my FI is happy and gets the wedding reception he really wanted since he agreed to having a destination wedding knowing most of his friends won't be able to make it.

So besides all of that I am celebrating my 30th bday msnparty.gif  this weekend so that should take my mind off wedding stuff for a while.  Until Tuesday when I go to buy my dress and all the thoughts start flooding my head again haha!!

Have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone!!

I love Jetblue and I love how they fly to some many destinations.

Virgin America flies from LA to Cancun for about $169 one way.  Super cheap!!  Just waiting for those November dates to come out and crossing my fingers it stays around $169.  :)

- Dress has been bought - CHECK!

- Invitations mailed out with a RSVP of 8/18/11 - CHECK!

- Re-did my centerpieces last night and very happy with them - just need to buy some stuff for them

- Finished bedazzling all the flip flops for the girls - CHECK!

- Bedazzled my garter...so cute! - CHECK!

- Looking at OOT bags and cuter bags for the BMs but still have to wait until it gets closer

Wow its less than 5 months now.  We started at 15 months out so this is crazy!!

Hope planning is going well for everyone else.

We did not send out invitations since there was only 6 months from the time we got engaged until our wedding date so instead we did a wedding website and sent the link out to everyone we knew! Not a conventional way of doing it but it works for us! We got the date confirmed for the actual wedding ceremony and I went to the travel agent to get group rates and we have had 35 people book so far in the last two weeks with another dozen or so expected in the next day or so! I went and bought my dress the weekend after I got engaged (I like to be on top of things!) and have booked the presidential suite for our stay at the resort. Also we are bringing our own photographer so we have paid for her trip (which was what she wanted for a fee! We lucked out on that one. And because we have 20 adults booked technically her trip is free!!!) Our reception dinner has been booked and all of my supplies for mine and my BM's feather bouquets are here and ready for me to start working on. We need the bridal parties attire and to figure out and our rehearsal dinner but pretty much all the big things are taken care of. Our package that we booked for our wedding includes my hair and make-up, our private transportation from the airport to the resort, breakfast in bed for the bride and groom and many other upgrades so I really don't have to worry about much at all! It is only 5 months away and I hope time flies! I hope everyone else is having a great time planning and everything is working out exactly how you want it!

Same dilemma here.  Have to wait for at least a good estimate.  Right now I have no clue.  But I guess we could return anything we don't use or sell if to other brides after.  I'm so anxious to start collecting the items.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
