Don't get Married At Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa Cancun

Recommended Posts

I don't think I would link this thread to the Dreams Cancun one. It will just cause unnessecary stress since we're not even sure this is a legitmate post. For all we know, another resort down there heard the gazebo was being remodeled and decided to come here and twist the story. I still think this post is completely fake.

Kristy I'm getting married there in July and confirmed with my WC Cecilia. The remodel is only till April 30th.... fingers crossed. She said the Gazebo will be bigger and taller

OK...so my heart goes out to the bride who MIGHT have experienced her wedding without the gazebo.
BUT on the upside - im kinda happy to hear they are remodeling it (as long as its finished on time!) When i was there in september it was starting to look a little worn and could have used a fresh coat of paint!

I'm not sure it's bluff...I mean the gazebo is being TORN DOWN for remodel, so it seems plausible....and the forum ruleshuh.gif Who reads those first anyway? I never posted as a "newbie" either! Oops!

Why are they remodeling pretty things like the gazebo (and they are tearing down the terrace too I was told by my WC). Why can't they remodel ugly things...like the pool and lagoon! lol...or remodel the ugly rooms...who is their decorator anyway...

Yes Tammy, I understand. I'm just saying that not everyone realizes this forum is strict on rules at first visit. I created an account and posted on a thread of my interest before realizing there was a whole list of rules, but honestly I didn't know to read those rules first before even joining...I figured it out when I couldn't download anything... I see a lot of users asking to be emailed information, and I don't think they even realize they are breaking forum rules. No malicious intent here, just ignorance as to forum rules which I am guilty of myself....that was my only point. :)

I am getting married at Dreams Cabo and I had a similar scare on the rooms. At one point during my planning, the hotel was oversold for the night of my wedding. My WC did tell me that the guests who made late reservations would be moved to a sister hotel. I was really upset because it was still 3.5 months out so to me that wasn't a late reservation. She assured me though that they then would be moved back to the dreams because (and this is cabo not cancun so I cant speak for both) I understood the sister hotel was actually a nicer hotel so they would technically be UPGRADED for one night, then would be able to move back. To me it makes more sense for everyone to be at one hotel. Just convenience wise. But I will say, this little "scare" detoured most of my guests from staying there. They ended up booking elsewhere to avoid the inconvenience of moving and then the hotel ends up not being overbooked (the group ended up cancelling I recently found out, mean time my guests cant now change their reservations). Sooo I will have to deal with the inconvenience but my guests are happy, so I am too. They aren't looking at it as inconvenient so I guess thats what matters. I definitely wouldn't say that through my planning, I have had the best customer service, but it's hard planning so far away. once I get there I am sure that my opinion will be different. If it's not I will be sure to let everyone know wink.gif but it just doesn't seem like the standard for them to not treat people well.

Hey, thanks please post asap lol :) When I saw this on the dreams cancun thread I almost had a heart attack. Hopefully it'll be beautiful and we'll all look back and think how we could've loved the original gazebo lol.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
