Don't get Married At Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa Cancun

Recommended Posts

After my frantic email this is the response that I received from Cecilia:

Dear Amy:

The rumors that you hear aboutthe gazebo are true, but is also true that the gazebo project will be finished by April 30th, so that will be done for your wedding.

You'll get the spanky brand new version which is a plus :-)

It sounds like an awful experience that the original poster went through though. Sorry you had to deal with that. Hopefully their sister resort (DRC) doesn't give any similar experiences :-s

i'm sure the brides getting married in the next few weeks will have a beautiful wedding even with the renovation. i'm more worried about my guests being turned away to another resort even if they have reservations! i wonder how often this happens. so not fair!

And, you will probably be able to wrangle a few freebies and concessions out of them because of this, so definitely take advantage of that! Ultimately, it's only a structure. The most important thing is you're marrying your best friend with your closest friends and family present, and nothing can top that!
I agree, it is your special day, and you have to make the most of it. I am so sorry to anyone who had their heart set on the gazebo, and may not be able to have it. But try to make the best out of it, and remember what this day is all about.

My fiance is trying to calm me down and said to think positive but damn thats hard. I am just hoping that its done b/c if not I dont know what to dohuh.gif? Besides let them hear my mouth (but I know that wont do any good)
Heh, don't be too sad... your post made me smile. :-)

I think it's "blow a gasket"... although caskets have been known to explode from all the gasses that a dead body emits, so now I'm thinking of gassy dead people.

Aww. I didn't know that. I assumed all the Dreams resorts were fairly identical. I know that Dreams PC (where I got married) had really beautiful grounds, and there were other pockets throughout the resort that would have been a good substitute. I'm crossing my fingers that all turns out well for the couples this affects.

I wanted to post this here to for those are following this thread:

I have an update. As I mentioned before my wedding is planned for the gazebo May 2nd. I did not feel good about just waiting and hoping to see if it would actually be complete by April 30th like they said. So I emailed the hotel, got the hotel manager's name and sent him an email. This is what he told me minutes ago:

About your wedding on May 02 we will be 100% ready for this important event.

Status on the current Gazebo: today we are adding floor, and the roof panels will be done by tomorrow. This is almost 80% of the hard work.

During the following weeks construction workers will be fixing details around the area, adding paint, electric power and other general small details. Only to give you a general idea tomorrow we will send you some architectural draw where you can picture your wedding at the new Gazebo.

So hopefully if he sends a pic I can figure out how to post it.

Unfortunately it is not an answer for the ladies who's weddings are before mine. My heart goes out to them. I agree with the other poster and I would insist upon a setup on the beach and a VERY NICE one covered in beautiful tropical flowers. I would NOT settle for a garden gazebo wedding. This is not why we choose this resort or signed a "contract" with them.

As everyone has stated, we should remember what the day is about...the actual wedding and sharing it with our family and friends. But still we had our hearts set on that gorgeous view and location and it is not right to find out weeks before your wedding that everything has changed.

If anyone has questions or wants my email address just let me know. :)

Sounds like you got in contact with the right person and im sure everything will turn out fine - whether at the gazebo or on the beach under hundreds of tropical flowers (which sounds breathtaking by the way!).

one thing bothers me a little about his response to you - and you might wanna email him again?!?! it says that during the following weeks they'll be fixing details in that area....to me, reading between the lines, this says that maybe the power for the sound system could still need to be finished? or the gazebo will be physically built but not completely done (painted) - i only hope for all the brides on this board that everything works out....so i thought id mention how i read that.

i do not want to send you back into panick mode - or anyone else - but if he's saying it will be ready - he better mean 200% ready!

Yes, you are right. After I posted it I was thinking the electricity could be a major issue. I mean surely they can get it painted...how long can that take? Lol. But I will give him a day or so to get back to me. Hopefully if he sends me a "drawing" of the new gazebo I can ask him about the paint and electricity. I will keep everyone updated. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
