The night before.....???

Recommended Posts

Having a DW certainly turns a lot of "tradition" on its head. So I'm curious...how many of you are planning NOT to sleep in the same room with your hubby the night before the ceremony? And how are you handling that? Are you paying for two separate rooms the night before?

For those of you who are following the "he can't see me before the wedding" tradition, how are you navigating your time before the ceremony (getting dressed, pics, etc.)?

My best friend is trying to tell me that my fiance and I shouldn't sleep in the same room the night before and I should do whatever it takes to build up to the big reveal. Seriously?

I could really care less about traditions, I don't even care if he sees my dress. However, the plan so far is that we are not spending the night before together. I don't know if it is a good idea or not. I plan to hang with some of my friends and thought that might help me de-stress a bit, or it could cause the opposite. I think if I am stressed before the wedding, it may be even harder not seeing him or talking with him. But it will make me even more excited to see him when I walk down the aisle.

I think I also am going to try to have a few minutes alone with him post wedding before dinner, without family, photographers, WC and others bothering us.

I just emailed the wedding coordinator and she is going to arrange a room for my fiance to sleep just the night before the wedding, and then the first time we will see each other that day will be when walking down the aisle!

I say go with whatever you both want to! If you wanna be traditional....then great, butif you wanna spend the night together the night before too-then also great. Its up to you. You friends cant "make" you spend it apart.

Im totally staying the night before with my groom.Honestly, I cant picture going to sleep the night before our wedding without him there by my side..Id never get one wink of sleep. AND We're only in jamaica for 7 nights, Im hardly spending one of them without him!!! And this way-if we re both nervous, we can be nervous together....lol......we plan on spending the night before with friends..then heading back to our room soaking in the outdoor whirlpool thats on our balcony....drink a glass of wine or 2....and relax...head to bed together knowing tomorrow is our big day. We'll go to breakfast together that next morning....then both be on our way-he ll get ready with the guys, and Ill spend the day with the girls...and see him at the ceremony at 4!

I think at the end of the day, its whatever makes you both happy......

We didn't sleep in the same room (he spent the night with one of his buddies) & didn't see each other before the ceremony (I had bkfst with my mom, moh, mil & sil, then went to the salon to get my hair done & that took up most of my time, while he hung out on the beach with his friends. Since the resort was pretty big this wasn't an issue & the 1 time someone in my group saw him approaching, they quickly ran interference & he simply went in the opposite direction.)
That was what we wanted & that is what worked for us. At the same time, there are plenty of couples who sleep with each other the night before & spend time with each other right up until the ceremony.
Ultimately, I think you should do what YOU want to do! Don't worry about what someone else thinks & says. KWIM?

My fiance and I are sharing our room the night before the wedding. He thinks it's a ridiculous tradition not to and I don't care either way. I suggested he sleep in one of his single guy friends' rooms the night before but honestly since all of our friends are big partiers, that's probably not the best idea anyway. I will just have him leave our room as soon as we wake up and he can get ready in a friend's or his parents' room while I get ready in our room with my mom and sister.

I am following this tradition. We are actually arriving in Hawaii on Friday and the wedding isn't until Monday. We are each staying with our family the first few nights before getting our own room after the wedding.

I definitely don't want him to see me until I'm walking down the isle that day. This does sound kind of difficult since I am planning a 5:45pm wedding!! We are going to check into our room the day before just so that it's taken care of and all of our stuff will be there when we return from the reception :) Anyone else doing this - I would like to know how you are scheduling your day as well... I really don't know how to NOT see him that day when we're at the same resort.. I guess just having our parents in contact for when we are leaving the room? That sounds kind of hard!

I'm staying in our room with my MOH the night before the wedding and he will be staying in the complimentary room for him with his brothers the night before. He won't be seeing me until I walk down the aisle. My BM's and the GM's are in charge of keeping us out of sight of each other and delivering our gifts to one another.

I stayed in my room the night before the wedding with my MOH and one of my bridesmaids. In turn they gave my FI their room which turned out well because it was in the same part of the hotel as all his boys. I'm glad we did this...I missed him but it made it so much more exciting the day of. It wasn't hard to hide from him that morning either because the hotel was HUGE! We were at one end, he was at the other.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
