How many OOT bags are you making?

Recommended Posts

I am making 21 bags - we have 10 couples and 11 singles... the cost averaged about $20 per single and $25 per couple... not too bad! I am really happy with the decision to make them and I'm really excited for the guests to get them. My fiance, daugther, sister and I are all bringing an extra suitcase (2 total each) filled with OOT stuff. If I have to I'll give my mom some stuff to pack as well. We will have to pay about $150 to have the extra luggage. Oh well, I think it's worth it!

I was going to make 1 bag per couple but ended up buying individual items and would feel funny giving such small items to share. So I'm making 40! Most of the things are pretty light (mints, chapstick, playing cards, candy.. I will get water and little bottles of aloe on the island). I did order puzzle/crossword books which turned out to be bigger than I thought and weigh a LOT so I think I will just return them. If I can get the box to the post office haha.

I would leave the heavier stuff at home or try to buy it on location. Ask someone local about it (for example, my photographer mentioned that there is an aloe plant in Aruba so she can get it for us at wholesale price). There is already so much to bring just for getting dressed alone, I'm trying to minimize the weight/volume of the luggage. My family will also be carrying some stuff, wrapped, so they won't know what's inside wink.gif

Hmmm..had not heard anything about that. Here is what I found on the web site;

Dreams Riviera Cancun highly recommends that all additional decorations and/or favors be brought with the couple on the plane.
If it is necessary to ship boxes prior to the couples arrival, we suggest using either FEDEX or UPS and shipping everything a month and a
half in advance to ensure all boxes clear customs.
• Please be advised that food, animals, insects or natural flowers are not permitted to enter Mexico.
• Label all boxes with your name and clearly specify the date you will be arriving.

Now I'm nervous!

I'm making one bag per couple and one for the singles. I'm not sure total but I am expecting to make 40 bags. My cousin will be flying down from NY and flying with us so we can distribute all the stuff that needs to go through out 3 suitecases (mine, FI and cousin).

Now that you have asked the question I had to check and I'm going to be making a total of 100!!! Yes that is a large number but we are somehow having a large destination wedding. So couples will get one bag with enough stuff for two people to share and singles will get one each. I'm actually considering gable boxes suggested by a few other brides on another forum versus bags. I'm excited to make them but have to figure out what's going in them cos it'll start to add up in cost and in weight.

  • 3 weeks later...

We are making 10 OOT bags. One per couple and one for singles. I plan on spending less than $15 per bag (haven’t started buying yet so we’ll see how that goes :) ). I am not planning on bringing a lot of extra decorations so I think we will be able to put everything in one suitcase, but my FI, parents and brother can always bring an extra luggage bag if needed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
