Frustrated Dreams Los Cabo Bride...

Hi- I'm not quite sure how all this works, so please bear with me! We finally decided on Dreams Los Cabos, and sent in our deposit to reserve our date (11.13.10). The process of just reserving the date took us almost a month, and now we are going on 2 weeks with the room rate contract issues. I'm so frustrated, we just don't know what to do. Our wedding planner contact at the hotel (who never responds to me, only my fiance) originally gave us a price per couple, and as of tonight has changed that price to per person! It would be cheaper for my guests to go on to their website and book on their own.

The whole reason I wanted to have a destination wedding was to avoid the stress and nonsense that having a wedding in the states would include, but I think at this point I'd rather stand in front of the JP or run away and tell my family too bad so sad, you can see pictures later. I'm not having any fun, and I'm not enjoying this at all.

Now that I'm done with my pitty party- does anyone have any suggestions? When we call the front desk they just tell us we have to talk to our wedding coordinator (and trust me- I always avoid giving his name in hope there is another available to assist me). I've read where there is a great girl, but have been told she is no longer at the hotel. I'm desperate for help- if the way our relationship is starting out is a foreshadow to my wedding day, I won't be smiling on my wedding day, I'll be crying.

First of all, welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement! I'm really sorry your planning has begun with so many bumps. I too have found my hotel not very helpful with booking rooms at a good group rate. So I contacted a travel agent. She's been doing a good job facilitating questions and booking rooms for my guests. Some guests are booking on their own because they found a better deal. Do you have a TA? A good TA might help you with some of your concerns. Most WCs take a long time to get back since they're on "island time" or busy planning another bride's big day. I'm pretty sure most of us have had frustrating moments waiting for a response. Hang in there! I'm sure your wedding will be wonderful!!

Really? I am dealing with Mariana and she has been great so far. I know most other Dreams Los Cabos brides have been fairly happy with the service they have received from this resort too. Perhaps it's that your wedding is far away and they are busy dealing with the current weddings. It's not reason to give you the runaround, I know, but I suppose it can happen. Good luck with everything though. I hope it will get better for you!

I say contact one of the fabulous TA's on this site! Click the banner at the top right of the page and see if (I know they can) they can help you navigate the process. I know how you could be stressed with less than 8 months to go until your big day. Breathe, it will all come together. I LOVED Dreams and have no complaints. Although my first WC would NOT get back to me, I changed to Yorai it was smoooooth sailing afterwards. Good luck!!! The resort is FAB and everyone is REALLY nice once you get there all of the stress of getting to that point will melt away! Keep your head up!

I was also a Dreams Bride!!

Welcome to the forum!

I used Wright Travel Agency, Tammy (Host) of the forum. She was absolutely amazing in getting my contract negotiated and for having a point of contact for my guests. She also helps a ton with questions on planning your wedding, which other TA's cannot offer. So def contact her, there is no fee to you.

Dont worry, once our deposit it down, date reserved, and room block contract signed. Thre rest is really simple and fun! Just picking out the details, which you can find ALL of them discussed here.

A few tips that I found super helpful when dealing with your Dreams Wedding Coordinator:

- remember they are super busy!!!

- keep one email stream going

- send it once per week with your list of questions

- wait to send your next email until the respond(usually with in 7-10 day, and more frequent the closer your wedding)

This keeps everything very straightforward and saves everyone time.

I agree with Erika...the one email stream is a must!! This way you have all your wedding planning information and quotes in one location. You can easily print this one email stream before you leave for your wedding to back up the prices and expectations. Again, good luck!

I hope everything works out for you. DEFINITELY keep everything so that you have proof of what you were previously told. Luckily, my emails and logs of conversations may be getting me a pretty hefty discount on photography and videography.

Congrats on your engagement! Welcome to the forum and happy planning!

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with the resort. I agree with the other ladies above. I would contact Tammy to assist you in arranging your travel/accommodation packages. I have found that a ta can get you a better rate than the resort will offer you. I am also having my wedding at Dreams Los Cabos and have had good experiences to date. I used a canadian ta to arrange a group package for all of my canadian guests and Tammy for my american guests. The wc at the resort I am dealing with is Yarai and she has been great to deal with. Sometimes it takes a week or so to get a response, but she always responds and has been very helpful to date. Good luck.

hi there,

i am the dreams cabo specialist as well as a dreams cabo bride.

Nov. is a very popular time in cabo and as the hotel books up, the rates will go higher.

additionally there sale rate did change recently so that could have affected your rate.

if there are other weddings booked around your time (and i have a couple) and they have blocked rooms, there may not be that many rooms left to block.

i book ALOT of weddings with dreams cabo and well as host the webinar with them. please let me know if you have any questions...or ask erika as she seems to be very on top of it with the dreams cabo posts.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
