RSVP's .... non-responders

Sheree....just saw this...I hear you. I was wondering what to do about this myself but after reading this thread...I think the best thing is to leave folks alone and not follow-up. I gave folks a very long RSVP deadline of May 15th. I have a rooming list for the hotel. The only kink is that some folks have mentioned trying to stay at another hotel next door...even though they were told not to...BUT...no RSVP...I will not call. The only ones I will follow-up on are folks that said yes...but have not booked a room....just to make sure they are not at the other hotel.

People are so right...those who want to come...will come and they will certainly find a way to let you know. My only issue is that I've gotten back like 6 RSVP's declining to come...but with no name on them so I have NO idea who sent them!! I stupidly did not put some sort of id on the RSVP's so have no idea who they are.

we didn't do rsvp's for our DW but we did for the AHR. so many people i knew were coming didn't reply so we had to contact about 60 people. i split the list up and asked our parents to contact people from their lists and i tackled the rest. some still didn't respond it took a few times...only because i knew those people were planning on coming...otherwise i wouldn't of kept asking.

plain & simple it is rude to not respond and leave people hanging. if it ever happens to you that you are in the situation be sure to keep the couple in the loop on why you are holding off. that's way more polite than not responding.

it was also a good thing we contacted people because we had 6 other people who were bringing a guest decide not too. that starts to add up a fair amount of money for meals we would of been charged.

as for DW...if it comes down to guests booking a trip i wouldn't call them. that's one of the reasons we didn't do a group rate quote.

Well, our rsvp date of May 1 just passed. There are still about 50 people who haven't responded either way. I expect to get a few more responses in the next few days. I already told FMIL that whoever I don't hear from at all, I will assume will not be coming.

As of today we have about 50 guests coming and about 8-10 more possibles. There are some people who said they are coming but still haven't made any arrangements. lol. I even had three who initially said yes and had to back out. I won't be surprised if I get a few more that drop. Hey, I understand... no hard feelings. We will have fun with those who do make it!!

50?! I honestly don't know how you're so calm...that is ridiculous in my opinion! I just don't know what is so difficult about putting the rsvp in the mail or calling you to let you know they're still trying to make their plans. I have a few more weeks to go and I think I'm going to go crazy. We were doing well when the invites initially went out but now the responses are trickling in very slowly! I know people are trying to get a better deal and airfare is really high right now but I hate not knowing how many people are coming or how many OOT bags to order. You have a great attitude Sheree, keep it up!

I know, 50 it sounds crazy huh!! I've been getting one every few days but I've decided not to hunt anyone down. I will speak to my mom and fmil and ask if anyone else has contacted them( it's mostly fam and their friends that haven't responded). That's why I set the date so early- I knew this would happen. I will start shopping for favors and other stuff in mid-June. We can wait until 2 weeks before the wedding to give the resort a final count.

No names on the RSVP? I tell you, unbelievable. I haven't gotten any of those but I did number each one as a precaution.

I couldn't have made it easier to RSVP (on our website) and I still have only had, like 5 people RSVP. We do still have almost 9 months to go, so I'm not freaking out or anything, but it is kinda frustrating. I've had people tell my FI that they definitely can't make it, but they still haven't RSVP'd as such on the website.

Sigh.

Ughhhh.....I really can't believe so many couples have to go through this. When we were planning we sent out 100 invites & 55 people came back saying they were coming, just by word of mouth, email etc...well our RSVPs are supposed to be returned by June 1st & we've only recieved 5 back...5 out of 100 invites...ridiculous. The worst is that I really wanted to get some things bought so we went ahead & ordered 60 of everything because these 55 people were for sures...now people are backing out & we have a for sure guest list of 28 people....I even went ahead & ordered 60 mugs from discount mugs---not cheap & now we have double what we'll need. I can't even sell them because we had them personalized:s SUPER frustrating...but in a way my fault for taking peoples words & not waiting until they were booked...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
