Outside reception

Recommended Posts

For those of you already married or others that want to chime in...

If you had an outside reception, how hot was it? I want to know if it was too hot. And what time it was at.

My coordinator is telling me that I will dread having the reception outside due to the heat. She said that the last wedding reception they did outside at the end of May people had sweat dripping down their backs. I know I don't want people to suffer, but I kinda of want the ambiance of the beach and all in the backdrop rather inside of a banquet room.

Our wedding is set for May 29th with a 5:30/6:00 ceremony start time in Clearwater Florida.

Well I can't say for Florida, but in in June Cabo is hot.. but we have our dinner outside and with the ocean breeze it actually got chilly at night. Our dinner was at 7:30. I've never been to Florida, but I think it's pretty humid there. Can you maybe do a dinner inside with huge windows over looking the water?

I am worried about the same thing in May in Cabo...but I know it's not as humid there.

However, not to shoot down your plan and ambiance...but a couple years ago my friend was married outside here outside of Sacramento though. It was about 105 that day but it doesn't get humid here. I was a brides maid and it was at this cute bed and breakfast. the place was so old there wasn't air conditioning!!! So getting ready was a nightmare!!! I know you won't have that problem...but my point is it didn't get any better when we got outside, went through the ceremony, and began dinner. I honestly couldn't even start drinking until I guzzled about 5 bottles of water!!! (Of course I made up for it later on).

I didn't hear the guests complain too much and I may have been an exception because I was dying of heat ALL DAY LONG!!! But you do want your guests to be comfortable...

I think the way people dress matters too...if you do choose to have it outside still...maybe you could make it less formal (you may have already thought of this) and have guests wear "beach attire" so that they aren't wearing suits and heavy material dresses and sweating even morehuh.gif

We are having our reception totally outside, we are doing everything on the beach, getting married, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. We are doing a DW because we love the beach and the water, so I am doing it all there. Also, I wanted something that I could not do at home. We have lots of reception venues that over look the beach and the water, we do not have anywhere that allows you to have dinner and dancing on the beach. So, even if its a little hot, this is how we are doing it. I notice though when you are by the water at night, you usually get quite the breeze.

That is a great point about being by the water and getting a breeze!!!

Whereas my friends wedding was right in the valley...no breeze!!!!! So, I think you will be fine outdoors...worse case they get a little hot and then they cool down and if you go with the light attire...you are set! :)

Michelle you will be fine in Cabo in May, yes it will get hot during the day, but trust me it's not that bad.

Kelly,

I really think you should be ok because your ceremony starts later in the evening. By reception time, the weather should be very comfortable in Florida. (I used to live in Miami and it was never hot in the evenings.) I highly doubt there will be sweat inducing heat.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
