I am going to see if I can use the dj's ipod system for the cocktail hour and if not, my dad always travels with his bose ipod docking station and the speakers rock! I was going with my own music initially at the reception for dinner then the dj for two hours but then dad offered to pay so i took all four hours lol

good idea -my dad has one of those Bose Ipod docking stations too.  This may be a silly question but does Mexico have the same outlets as us? or would we need a converter?  Excellent contribution by your Dad!

We made cds with our wedding music as well as the important songs such as father daughter dance, first dance and mother and son dance.  It came out wonderful!  Plus we only did the two hours for the dj that came with the package and he actually played music during the dinner and then played two hours for the dancing.  Afterwards, we went to the sports bar and finished our night there. We had a great time and so did everyone else.  They do have equipment that work with the IPOD as well.  Just a thought if you are looking to save money!

I'd love to see pictures from any brides who have already had their wedding at Now Jade.  I am getting married April 14th, 2011.  Only 4 months away - can't wait!!  Also, I am just joining this feed so I apologize if this question has already been asked and answered - did anyone get their hair and makeup done by the resort?  If so, how did it turn out?  I am still debating whether or not to just do my own.  I don't want to, but I'm nervous that the resort might not do it how I expect it to look.

Thanks ladies!!

Shannon

Alright brides, I need some help.  I just got an email from Pilar saying that another bride is already booked on my date and has the locations that I want!!!!  I was previously booked at the resort that had the explosion and had to move my whole group to Now Jade.  Pilar had originally told me that my date was open so instead of Now Sapphire (that had the date open also), I went with Now Jade because I liked the updated feel.  Now she is telling me that I cannot have the locations that I want or I can change the date.  I cannot change the date do to the days that people are coming and going and not to mention the fact that I already sent out invites and have custom travel bags and mugs with the date on them!

I know I saw somewhere that someone posted the sales manager's email address.  Does anyone have that address of know where it was mentioned?

Please help

Meg

Meg, could you change the times for your ceremony, cocktail hour etc? They gave me that option for the first date we had chosen. I don't have the sales manager's email so I can't help you with that.

Robin, if you ask Pilar/Ana about getting the smaller sparklers, maybe you can tell her that there are more brides interested in purchasing these and they could get a couple of boxes to keep for sale at the resort. Less hassle for them and more money to be made (and as we all have noticed they like to make money lol).

I am using an ipod for the ceremony and probably for the reception as well. My brother is a music producer and works in a big studio so he will make us a playlist.

snl2011 -thanks for the managers contact info. I ended up sending the email to Pilar last night.  I have yet to hear back from her so if I don't hear soon, I will contact the manager directly.  I am ;upset because I don't want to have to use 2nd best locations.  this is my wedding!  I have had so many problems with the overall planning of this wedding; from travel agents, pressure from family, the first resort blowing up, FML threatening to not come, and now this. Is someone or something trying to tell me something here???  sorry fro being a drama queen about this. I know that it is not the end of the world but I just needed to vent I guess.

In the email to Pilar, I expressed my disappointment over the situation and inquired when the other bride's ceremony, cocktail hr and reception are so that maybe we can work with the times.  I am not as worried about the reception location because there seems to be a few good options out there, but I definitely want to use the pergola and the blue beach bar.  hopefully we can work out the times so that I can use the same locations earlier or later than the other bride.

I would love to hear other bride's drama so I know that I am not the only one feeling this way...

Hello,

I am new to the forum and am in the process of booking my date August 18th 2011.  I have a few questions and was hoping some of you could answer them. I will list them so they are easier to read.

1.  I was planning on getting the divine package but wasn't planning on using all the services that it offers.  I've seen in past posts that they let you do swaps but read one were they don't allow that anymore.  Does anyone know the deal with this?

2.  I was thinking about using an outside event decorator.  Has anyone done this or know if they allow it?

3.  What is the quality of the spa?  Are they good with the hair and makeup?

If any of you know the answers to these questions it would be very helpful and greatly appreciated!  Thank You!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
