I'm getting married at Jade on November 4, 2011.....50 booked just off our save the dates! GULP! :) We're getting married at the Pergola at 4pm, then having our cocktail reception (2 hours) at the Blue Beach Bar. Dinner after that....I'm not planning a formal reception w/ DJ, etc. I thought we would just all hit the dance club after dinner. We're not interested in doing the first dance, dollar dance, etc., like at traditional receptions, and were hoping for to transition our dinner to the club for dancing/drinks. Does this sound like a reasonable timeline for those that have been married there? Also, one bride told me the dance club isn't open every night.....does anyone know for sure? I'd hate to count on us going there to party if it's closed. Any insight on timeline, etc. would be helpful.

I had a phone conversation w/ Ana last week and it helped so much....communicating by email wasn't working for us. I'm bringing my own photographer and minister and by email she wasn't budging at all on me trading that for other services. Per our phone conversation, she's allowing us to trade it for any live music, more flowers or a DJ. We may go w/ the Caribbean trio for our cocktail reception.

Happy Planning!

The "dance club" aka Sports Bar, Scores, was open every night when we were there April 27 - May 4. We did the same thing, no traditional reception with first dance and all that, just dinner (with music playing from our ipod) and then went to the Lobby bar (my favorite) and the Sports Bar. Sounds like a good time line to me. I would just check the sunset to make sure you're getting enough light for pics and that it is not too hot during the ceremony.

I too found it easier to negotiate trades and prices on the phone or while at the resort.

What time shoud I start the ceremony? I was thinking 6:30, but my FI thinks that's to late. I'm worried if we start any sooner it's going to be HOT and the sun will be to bright for his eyes.

Our ceremony started at 5:30 and the sunset was at 7:10ish. We were...hmmm...what do you call it in English?..squinting (sp?) on many of our ceremony pics because we were facing the sun. If I could do it over I would have started 15 min or 30 min later. It was not too hot, but that was probably because we were lucky, the day before I was sweating at 5:00 but on our wedding day it wasn't as hot or windy, just perfect :)

Hi - Did you request Doremixx?  I asked Ana about him and she wound up booking another DJ for me; Luis De Alba.  Has anyone heard of him????  He wrote me a very nice email and was very responsive, but I'd rather go with someone who is referred by one of you ladies.

We used the resort photographer and could not have been happier! They were great! It turned out a lot cheaper for us than using an outside vendor. Here is their website: http://www.adventurephotosmx.com/

They have an office at the resort so you can meet with them before the wedding if you want to and discuss any special requests etc.

Hi Ladies-

Does anyone have any money saving tips or advise when it comes to using the resort photographer?

I'm going with the middle wedding package. It includes one hour of photo time. Each additional hour is $99. I'm trying to decide if I want to pay the extra time? I do want a CD of pictuers so that I can make my own wedding album and video when I get back.

Any advise for previous brides is helpful!

I'm getting the divine package and was just planning on using the flowers incl in the package, is anyone else doing this? It seems like everyone is using outside vendors. I Don't plan on doing much add ons with the package and was wondering if anyone could tell me what is good to add on because i'm seriously horrible at this type of stuff =( I'm bringing my friend who is my photographer so they are giving me extra DJ time for the swap. Also, i'm getting married december 2nd, i have my dress and i think i know what colors i want...i have the wedding package and spot saved but thats it! Am i behind in planning? should i be panic mode? lol like i said, i'm horribe at this =S

My wedding is June 22nd. I just started writing up my contract with Ana. What helped me is knowing what my package didn't include. then I decided if I was willing to bring it down to save money.

I taking down my own centerpieces (got 5 for $65 they wanted to charge $65 per centerpiece), chair sashes (.69 a sash online they wanted to charge $5) , and  bridesmaid flowers($12 for two at Michales, they wanted to charge $65 per bouquet)  to save money. I'm paying extra for the DJ- 4 hours, pictures, corsages and boutonnieres. I think if you understand really well what your package includes and budget for it you'll be fine. Don't worry!

Irishdonna--I was married here on April 8.  I went with the divine package....I used the resort florist and loved my flowers.  I used an outside photographer and swapped out the photographer for extra videographer time.....I highly recommend this.  The video turned out amazing!!!  I can't even tell you how great it is to have it all on video.  The videographer was there for half of the reception and I wish I had paid more to have him there for the whole thing!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
