Hey ladies,

Have any past brides used the spa in Now Jade for their make-up & if so would you have any close up photos of it please :) Were you happy with it??.

I tend not to wear foundation & if I do, I use very little. I just tend to do make up on my eyes & have my own way of applying. I got my make up done for my brothers wedding, but I didnt like it at all.

Do you recommend wearing foundation for wedding photos? I will have to buy new foundation if so, as I will have a tan & it will be hotter in Mexico than back home in Ireland :) Our wedding is in May 2013, so hoping it will be warm/hot :)

Or do you reckon, the best thing is to get my make-up done in the spa?

Thanks in advance,

Susannah

Hi Susannah, I have read nothi but positive reviews about the spa therem aside from them going heavy on the eyeliner! I think if you're specific, it will be perfect! That's what I'm hoping for anyway...

Thanks a mil :) I guess once I have a photo or an idea that works for me/my face shape/eye shape etc, it will be fine. My main concern is the foundation, as I dont normally wear it, if I do, its the tiniest amount & what I would normally use would be too light as I do tend to tan quite well when on hols.. But I want my skin to look as flawless as possible for the photos but was concerned that I would look caked in make up!

I got my hair done at the spa but not my makeup and I don't think I could have trusted anyone else to do it.  The other bride in there got really heavy makeup so I was happy with my choice.  I would recommend going to Sephora and they will teach you how to apply your makeup and even give you a little "map" of what they did.  I use bare minerals foundation because it's super light and it held up with the humidity.  Good luck!

From what I saw, the resort photog is pretty generic and you don't have him for very long.  Plus you pay a lot more for extra pics.  I would research other photographers in the area...plus you don't have to pay the outside vendor fee or the day pass if you are feeding them dinner.  I used Ishmael Pacheco and I also really liked Sasha Gluck's work.  Good luck!!

I had my make up done at the spa. I am VERY particular with my makeup and I would say that she did okay. I brought a lot of my own stuff for her to use (she has a ton of stuff though) and I kind of added to it once I got back to my room. I wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis so I didn't think that she put enough on. I highly suggest foundation for pics because it will give you a more finished look but stay away from bare minerals because that tends to look not so great in photos. You can always do a trial a day or 2 before the wedding to see if what she does is what you would want for the wedding. I did a trial hair and makeup run the day before the wedding that way I knew what to expect!

Perfect timing on this thread since I was just thinking about this for my self!

Kit Kat - Who did you contact to coordinate a trial before the wedding and how much did they charge you for the trial (looks like the make up and hair for the wedding day is already included in the divine package).  Since yy wedding is Friday, I'd like to have a trial on Wednesday, if possible.

Also, my bridesmaids would like to get their hair and make up done at the spa too (Trial & Wedding Day).  Does anyone know if those prices are posted for this anywhere?  Thanks, Ladies!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
