I have looked into excursions because future hubby is all about deep sea fishing. If you do a google search for fishing in Puerto Morelos you will get tons of options. Price wise I found the following

up to 6 people btw $350-500

up to 8 ppl btw $400-650

up to 10 ppl btw $450-800

up to 12 ppl btw $500-900

It sounds like all you have to do is take a taxi to town and find the right dock. My mom and I were there last May and its a really small town that basically consists of a few shops and mostly fishing.  I don't think it will be hard at all. The taxi cab ride only cost us $20 dollars and $10 to go back and that was from the Secrets Silversands which was further away from town then Now Jade.

While the boys are fishing I think the girls are going to go snorkeling. Because the reef is a national park you have to go out with a guide to snorkle. From the different companies I have found it was about 30 dollars a person which includes equpiment and lunch.

on another note my wedding is only 68 days out! Holy crap! We have 34 people booked and I couldn't be more pleased how everything is shaping up!

Hi everyone!

I'm a newbie! Looking at getting married late november / early december 2012.

I saw a post a while back where someone wrote that it cost $94 per person for dinner (after the 25 people included in wedding packages). This sounds ridiculously expensive to me.... especially since we might have closer to 60 people there.

Does anyone know if this is truly how expensive it will be?!

Thanks for your help!

Hey all,

I am working on picking the resort for my DW and Now is definitely high on my list - I am just trying to get a handle on the additional costs that may add up (especially if they are hidden).

1. Does anyone know if there is a fee for using an external vendor (ie hiring your own photographer) - I know of one resort that charges you $800 per external vendor and I wanted to have this info upfront.

2. I have read in several reviews about substituting items in the paid package (ie having an additional floral arrangement in lieu of make-up on day of wedding) - I am wondering if they charge a fee for these sorts of substitutions since the "fine print" says wedding services are non-exchangeable?

Thanks in advance for any info you may have! Happy planning :)

Hey Mlite83,

I don't know if you're looking at Now Jade or Now Sapphire, but I know the answer to your questions for Jade and I assume that they won't vary much for Sapphire:

1) The outside vendor fee is $350, but this doesn't apply to photographers as they are not categorized as vendors.  Your photographer(s) will be required to pay a $55 per person for a wedding day pass.

2) Regarding substitutions the quick answer is NO, they seem to have a 'if you don't use it you lose it' policy. However, I have spoken to a couple of brides who have informed me the closer they got to the wedding day and the more persistent they were with their requests, the more accommodating the WC became.  But there are no guarantees with this theory, and I wouldn't choose the resort or make wedding plans assuming that your requests will be met.  Just let it be a pleasant surprise if they do.

By the way, BDW is hosting a Now Jade/Sapphire webinar on March 24 which should be really informative and hopefully answer a lot of questions for prospective brides.

I have been able to substitute some items. I think that it depends on who your wedding coordinator is. I have Pilar and she has been very accommodating but I have heard that Ana does not allow substitutions. I will only have about 17 total for our wedding so she isn't going based on the amount of people that we have coming with us.

Just a heads up for everyone.....

My wedding is May 6th 2012. Since last May I have been working with Ana Marie. Last week I sent her an email and she never answered ( unlike her , shes been pretty decent to work with). Then Saturday I recieved an email from Pilar reminding me to make my spa appointment. I decided to ask why she was emailing me and come to find out Ana Marie NO longer works for the Now Jade and Pilar will be my wedding planner now.

So if you have Ana I would be emailing Pilar to find out whats going on with your wedding.

My only fear is that Pilar won't know the add ons and changes I have made with Ana Marie. Lets cross our fingers it all works out okay!

Hi Miranda!  I am getting married May 7th, 2012 at the NOW Jade.  Would love to see what you have planned and feel free to be in touch with any questions.  I haven't been in close communication with Pilar yet, still trying to get everyone booked and decide how I want things to be.  Hired La Luna and a DJ, and I will be getting the most expensive package, mainly for the food upgrade.  We are expecting about 45 people.  My email is mendez_dana@hotmail.com, as I am irregularly on this site.  I am going to do the webinar though.  See you in Mexico!  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
