Ladies- I was married at the NOW Jade last Saturday and it was more than I could have ever hoped for.

Pilar is amazing and put me a complete ease.

We had 77 guests and it was seamless and flawless.

Friday we had our rehearsal on the pergola at 4:30 followed by a 2 hour private cocktail party in the lobby (they sectioned of a large area for us).  After that we all went to the buffet for dinner (they were able to seat us all in the same area together).

Saturday was our ceremony on the pergola, cocktail party at the Mix beach bar followed by reception at the bamboo room.

We used Derek and Loraina from Photos in Cancun (www.photosincancun.com) and they were great to work with.  We were sent home with around 3000 photos!

The resort is amazingly modern, clean and the staff is great.  They brought out balloons and masks and tequilla to kick off dancing at the reception and our guests loved it! Everyone was on the dance floor.

I will post more later on the reviews page but if you have specific questions, please let me know!

I am having a really small wedding (about 25-30 people) and I am debating whether I should hire a DJ or if I should just have an IPOD playing for the reception. My concern is that the DJ is quite expensive and I am not sure how good of a dance party you can have with 25-30 people?  Any advice?

I am getting married on January 18th and never heard of that ?

We are having a DJ because we don't want to ask any of our friend to be in charged of the ipod and sincerly we don't have time to do it all !!

Hi ladies,

Our wedding video DVD arrived in the mail yesterday! We used the videographer included with the resort and paid for an extra hour on top of the one that was include with our package. The DVD really is wonderful, he did a great job. The Videographer was Alex Gonzalez with cancunweddingvideo.com.

I can't figure out how to get this thing loaded up online yet but once I do I will share the link so you can see the quality of the work. We are so happy to have the video, it's great to be able to watch the ceremony again!

It is for the divine package. They took out the 2 hours of a DJ and had one hour (I think?) of a band. I was able to swap that and get the DJ for 2 hours instead. My wedding is in May so maybe you booked yours before they changed the package?

I have to figure out what I am doing for music for the ceremony...I guess just use an iPod.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi ladies!!

A question for all the brides that have already been married at Now Jade : what sort of tipping did you do? We figure we should tip Pilar... just not sure how much. Does $100-$200 seem reasonable? Also, did you tip the servers at the reception, photographer, dj etc?

Thanks for any insight you can give!

The resort is all about tipping. Everywhere you turn there are people working there expecting a tip.

I tipped Pilar $50USD and the photographer and DJ $10USD.

We probably spent a total of $200USD in tips for the whole week.

I never felt that people were looking for tips but we did so anyways because everyone there works so hard.

We tipped Pilar $100, the DJ $50, the waitstaff at our reception $100 and the photographers $100. This doesnt include the tipping we did throughout the week to the bartenders.

Everyone is very appreciative of the tips so we were happy to do so.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
