I'm 2 months away today and I'm getting REALLY nervous!

Have you guys heard anything about the civil ceremonies?  We wanted to do a sand ceremony and have some family members do readings.  Are they able to accomodate?

I did a symbolic wedding and trust me your guest will not be ripped off.  They still make you sign a piece of paper just for show which looks like you are signing you license.  Everything looks realy and amazing!  Also they are very accommodating on anything you want for your ceremony.  Just let them know and they will schedule it in and they will make everything perfect =)

I think most people do a symbolic wedding. It can be a real pain doing a legal one in Mexico.  I actually took off from work last Friday and Shane and I got married here in Denver.  So officially I'm married already but we didnt celebrate or anything and we're considering our Mexico wedding the real wedding.  We also found out that CO doesn't recognize weddings in Mexico so even if we paid to do everything legally in Mexico we'd have to come back here and do it again.  That would have really annoyed me!  I don't think any of your guests will feel ripped off because its the ceremony and vows in front of your loved ones that matters.

Hi - My hair and makeup appointments start at 2pm and my ceremony is at 6pm.  I'm rethinking the time though and considering starting an hour earlier.

BTW - I had asked Ana about the size of the canopy on the beach since I had heard it was 6ftx6ft and my fiance is 6'4".  She said just to remind her during our meeting and they can make arrangements for a larger one.

We have only told one of my aunts that we are legally getting married in Canada the day after we get back and pilar told me there will be a certificate to sign so it looks legit. Now if your guests know the rules that could be different. Being there 4 days before the ceremony, fingerprints, blood test etc...

Congrats Erin. We are doing and feel the same way as you but chose to do it after we return because I wanted to feel like mexico was the real thing and i was scared that even though it is just legal paperwork there are certain vows that need to be said and I wanted it to be said for the first time in mexico in front of family and friends so we are having our legal on May 1st, we get back on apil 30th and we are just having a minister come to our house for like 10minutes and voila all done! I am not changing my name until I get back from our honeymoon in greece which we don't leave for unitl may 22nd and back on june 6th to save the hassle of passport stuff but I will be going by my new name hehe, no one needs to know!

Thanks ladies! I feel a lot better knowing you sign a paper and make it look like you're really signing your life away lol. We are going to stick with the symbolic and keep it to ourselves=)

I'm only having 25 people at my wedding, does anyone suggest a good place to have a reception? I was told by my WP that most people just do dinner and go out to celebrate...but reading through this i see everyone has it at the resort. Does the dancing part of the reception come with the divine package or do i have to pay extra for a place to have a private event?

I hired a wedding planner so i won't be the person talking to Pilar or anna. Wish i knew how easy it was to do on my own. Would have saved some $$$$.

IrishDonna,

If you're having 25 guests and you choose the Divine package, you can pretty much do anything you want and not pay extra because 25 people are included in the Divine Package.  So you can do just a dinner in a restaurant, or you can choose a private reception spot with a sit-down dinner and a DJ and everything.  I think it's 2 hours you get of the DJ for free.  I'm paying extra to have 4 hours of the DJ.  Oh and the cocktail hour is included too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
