Thanks for all the feedback on using a TA. I kind of talked my husband into it and now I´m kicking myself because I feel like we could do it without one. He still wants to use one, so I must have been pretty convincing in my original argument. hahahah

It´s kind of frustrating because the last message from our TA was that she could match competitor´s prices, so if I found a cheaper one I should let her know. I thought it was HER job to find us the cheapest rates! I guess I´ll start doing my own research too.

Hey girls,

My husband and I just got back from our wedding at Now Jade and everything went perfectly.  Our wedding coordinator was Ana Maria and she did a very good job.  One thing I have to say is don't worry I know it seems like a lot going on and you may have unanswered questions before you get there but they tie everything together once you're there.  Thats when all of the little details are worked out (which we didn't have many because our wedding was pretty simple) but they make sure they have everything in order before your big day.  I literaly did not have to worry about a thing, just enjoy myself.  We were married on La Pergola and I really liked the set up and we had our reception at castaways the steakhouse.  We didn't pay to have a reception, there were only 14 of us and we thought it seemed silly to pay 22 dollars per person and have to pick one meal that everyone had to eat.  So we told Ana Maria that we were just all going to go to a restaurant and eat normally and she had told me thats fine it is just first come first serve so we may have to wait to eat all together, but she ended up having a table set up for us and ready for when pictures were done at no charge which was nice.  So, I have to say our photographer was amazing.  We chose to use an outside photographer and I'm really glad we did.  It was 1000 dollars for five hours and he gave us a cd of all of the pictures he had taken before he left us that day with over 1800 pictures on the disks.  Derek Campbell and Lorena from Photos in Cancun (PhotosinCancun.com) is who we used.  They were really easy and fun to work with and they got great pictures for us.  He was excited to do non traditional pictures which I really liked, of course we did those too but we got a lot of really great pics.  There is an abandoned house a short walk up the beach which I had read somwhere from another bride and we got a lot of really great pictures at that site.  You could tell they really enjoy what they do and they are so relaxed and easy going, they were really great.  One thing we were a little upset about is they didn't upgrade our room.  I had read too that a lot of couples ended up getting a room upgrade, we asked but they didn't do anything, so we got what we called the swamp view.  That kind of stunk especially beacuse my husbands two friends that ended up coming (two guys mind you) got upgraded to the preffered ocean view room.  That didn't make sense, but oh well its not like you're in the room a whole lot anyway.  But thats all I've got.  Goodluck to everyone and relax everything will go perfectly.

Hi Ladies

Alex is actually Alejandra. She is awesome and always responds so quickly even late at night but she is off the mexico city for a family emergency so she may not be as quick in the next month or so but she is definately on top of things. We are booking a private tour with her for tulum and a cenote also just haven't confirmed the amount of people wanting to come yet. Each private van has room for 12 people and she will send you a grid with all the rates. They offer several tours and I would highly recommend her services so far based on her communication. I told her she had the best response time in mexico!!!!

Hi Ladies!  I took a long and much needed hiatus from planning, as it was making me nuts!  I missed reading all of your posts though and finally caught up last night!  Meg and Tiffany Congrats!  I'm so happy to read that everything went well and you had a ball!  For all of the new ladies, I am excited to hear your plans and share any ideas.

I've recently sent some emails to Ana to get the ball rolling again, but similar to all of you, haven't heard back yet.  I booked our trip and most of my guests trip through Destination Weddings, so my TA mentioned that if I continue to have a hard time with contact that she would step in.  Definitely helpful since my job doesn't allow for much planning time.

For those of you who were married on the beach, I believe that I've read here that the canopy is 6ftx6ft.  Any of you have tall fiances?  We were planning on doing a beach wedding, but I'm getting nervous that it might be too short for us.  He is 6'4" and I would hate for his head to be cut off in all our photos LOL

Also, for those of you who used onsite vendors, did you have much contact with them prior the wedding or did Ana/Pilar handle?  Since we're not getting anywhere with Ana, I'm wondering if I should just work around her.

Lindsay, I leave for my wedding in less than 4 weeks and I just got the photographer's info from Ana last week so I dont know how much luck you'll have going around her.  I dont know anything about the florist, and I actually did get in touch with the DJ company but they just said we'll meet when we get down there.  I think I just need to take the advice from other brides and wait until I get down there to plan, and just trust that they know what they're doing.

For brides who just got married recently, did you bring down things for OOT bags?  And if so, did you have any issues with customs?  Did you have all of your receipts? I'm starting to get nervous about that.

Thanks!  I guess I'll just be prepared for whenever she feels the time is right!

I decided not to bring any decorations down with me, but will bring OOT bags and items (not 100% sure what yet).  I'll bring all receipts just to be safe and try to separate the items into mine, my fiance's, and my mom's bags as much as possible.  My favors and place cards/settings are being shipped directly to the hotel from the women in Mx that is making them.

Should I assume that all of you are bringing your dresses with you on the plane?  Have any of you called the airlines to confirm they can hang it somewhere in the plane?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
