I plan on shipping some things ahead of time.  Pilar told me that was fine to do, so I assume they have had others do it before.  I hope it works out okay.  I just have a five month baby I'll be bringing with me and with all the things I'll have to bring for him that would be too much to handle.

My wedding is also in August, on the 18th.  When is yours?

I looked into shipping things there and here is what I found out: Pilar gave me the address to have things shipped to the resort.  I think she said for the items to arrive no earlier than one month in advance.

UPS: definitely cost effective but no guarantee when the package will actually be delivered.  They told me that they cannot guarantee that it would make it through customs or when it would get through.

Fed Ex: very costly but they can guarantee a delivery date.  We found that it was cheaper to pay the extra $50 for the 2nd bag through the airport.

I recommend that if you have some of your stuff early, definitely ship UPS beforehand.  I had so many last minute hotel changes and mishaps that I could not order too much early which means that I have to take all of the stuff with me and family members.  One of my last posts was that I came home and my FI packed our decorations and it totaled 8 extra bags!  even if I gave some to other family members at $50 per bag, that is still $400.  I repacked the stuff and have gotten people to agree to bring some stuff in their carry-ons (I think Lisa said that glass is ok and I am hoping that she is right cause I am bringing A LOT of vases as carry-ons.  I repacked some suitcases and we have it down to 4 extra bags to check!  I refuse to bring more than that based on principle.

FYI -I never got to take any pics of the vases but I will take some once I am there and make sure you guys get to see a picture in case anyone wants to use them.  3 days till I am in Mexico and 6 days until my wedding!!!!! Can't wait

Hammy- good luck and all the best. I am excited for you!!!! Have the time of your life!!! I have packed glass in my carry ons and in checked bags before with no problems but who the heck knows nowadays. If for whatever reason they give you problems I heard from another bride that she went into town and got vases for $2each. Not sure where but there is a walmart in playa del carmen.

OMG! a walmart?  2 a vase? I could have saved myself a lot of time, hassle and money by just going there!  I may keep that bit of info to myself and not share that with my FI -that would probably make him crazy and I can't have him losing his marbles right before the wedding :  )

lmao, oh oh I better brush up on my spanish or have a translator with me!! My wedding is at 4pm also and I have booked my appointment for 11:30. What time do you think I would be finished? How long did it take to do both hair and makeup? Were they an hour late or did it take her longer than quoted to do it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
