Hi ChrisieAnn,

I'm flying a photographer out there with me and I'm getting the Eternity package.  I know that people have said that they don't allow substitutions for the package anymore, but I've noticed in the past they have let people substitute the photo package for the caribbean trio during their cocktail hour.  I'm still going to try to see if I'm persistent in asking if they will allow me to do this.

I'm having my reception from 7-11.  I've read from past posts that there is an extra charge for every hour over three hours, but I am going to pay that because I am already spending a lot of money for the reception set up and I want it to be worth it.  I noticed in the wedding book though that it says receptions can go as late as 11:30...so I'm not sure if you would have to get you times moved up in order to do that.

O am also doing my cocktail hour at the blue beach bar, from reviews I've read of brides that have been there that is the best location.  I have read that the orange lounge is in an odd and non private place.  I had planned to do my cocktail hour there originally but then changed it.

Since a lot of ppl are getting outside photographers, are you all going with a package, or doing a la carte? I have the divine package.

How long are everyone's receptions???  My schedule is 6pm beach ceremony, 7pm cocktail at blue beach bar, 8-11 reception in bamboo room. I think 3 hours is short for a reception, was anyone able to get an extra hour??

From brides who have been there, what location is better for a cocktail hour, the blue beach bar or the orange lounge?

And, lastly, has anyone done a deep sea fishing excursion?? And what company did you use??

Thanks for you advice!!! :)

Hi ChrisieAnn,

Yes the blue bar is perfect for the cocktail hour.  It is secluded and just beautiful.  After our reception we all went to the Scores bar and everyone had a blast.  They will not allow things to go past 1130 for the reception.  I also got an outside photographer and asked if I can use the photographer from the package for the trash the dress the next day and they allowed me to do that but I guess that is when they started saying they will not substitute.

Hi Cortney -

I'm interested in having our reception on the beach too.  I've emailed Ana and asked her about it, but haven't received a response.  I'll let you know what I find out.  The wind seems to be the main issue with an outside reception.

Best,

Jen

My ceremony is 5:30, cocktail hour from 6-7, and then reception from 7-11.

When I had to fill out the paperwork when I first booked and put down the deposit, I spelled all that out on the forms.  No one ever questioned the times I chose.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
