Jessi-- I emailed her and she sent me a few pictures with ideas.  I also sent her some pictures of what I might like.  One of them included peonies, which are expensive ( I guess they have to ship them in to Mexico) so she came up with a similar less expensive alternative.  Her responses are usually pretty short and don't always answer ALL of my questions, but I think it's probably due to language barrier.  I'm just so impressed with her quick response time, because that does not seem to be the norm with other people I've tried to communicate with.......hopefully she will be helpful fo you! :)

you guys, I think that my ideas are bigger than my suitcase -literally!  I looked around tonight and I have like 15 boxes of varying sizes with stuff that I plan to bring with me.  I have no idea how I am going to get it all down there.  I know that it is $50 to check a 2nd bag and at this rate, I will be having everyone in my party bring an extra bag with them. OMG!

Lisa,

Were you suggested to this DJ through the resort?

OMG! I have a beach bag for everyone that will include travel mugs, personalized deck of cards, antibacterial lotion and waterproof money holders. I have raffia fans and bubbles to place at each seat for the ceremony. I have table runners and chair sashes.  I have 36 vases ranging in sizes from 9 in to 4 in (btw, I am leaving them all down there if anyone wants to use them)!!!!!  I have 24 candles to put in the vases.  I have various small shells to place the 7in vases.  I have 6 in starfish to place at each table seating. I have actual place cards which are shells.  I have plastic diamond stones to scatter across the runners. Some flowers to hang from the bamboo sticks.  I was going to bring icicle lights to hang around the room but I don't think that I will have room now.  I have 16 crystal curtains that I bought to hang from the windows....And I still have to order something to hang from the center ceiling.  Not to mention clothes for 11 days, wedding dress, shoes, veil, etc.

My main concern is the getting the crystal curtains, travel mugs and larger vases down there.  I think that our airline charges $50 for the 2nd bag checked which means that the curtains alone have to go by themselves because the box weighs like 40 lbs already and the large vases and the travel mugs and then another bag for all the other stuff.  that is $200 right there just for travel.  My fiancee is going to kill me and he just lost his job on Friday so we really don't have the money to be spending like I did.  I don't know what I was thinking!!!!  Any ideas?

Hammy sorry to hear about your FI losing his job.

Wow that is alot of stuff. How many guests are you having? When is your wedding?

i love the crystal curtain idea, that will look beautiful. One of the previous now jade brides had brought lighting for the bamboo and said she didn't need it as they are already lit up from behind.

I have a shit load of stuff too but I have enlisted quite of few of my family and friends to help to save costs.

I only have about 40 adults coming and I totally am going to have family help out but those 3 boxes are big that they will have to be checked.  I told another bride that I am too much of a control freak and I should never have chosen to be a destination bride.  Totally stressing out!

That's a great turnout. I am such a control freak myself so it has been hard doing the destination thing but I am learning to be a little more laid back as time goes on and communications with the hotel have improved 100%. Things are going great now! Don't stress cause it will all come together and be the most amazing day of your life. You won't even notice the small details. When is your big day?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
