All the sand ceremony really entails is the pouring of the sand from two vases into one. The minister talks about how it is a symbolic joining of two lives as the sand is now entwined and can never be separated just as your lives together now :) It's like 2-3 minutes long.

Uhhh sorry I really have no idea how many windows there were and I'm a bad judge at estimating height lol. Your better off asking Pilar or Ana.

Two questions for you; I am familiar with the pouring of the sand but what else does a "sand ceremony" entail?  and my second question is about the two walls of windows in the bamboo room.  I was thinking of hanging beaded curtains but I am not sure how many windows there are or how tall the windows are...can you estimate for me?

Michelle thanks so much for the review!  How did you get all of the decorations down there?  Did you bring them all in suitcases?  We have OOT bags and goodies for 50+ guests, string lights, sand ceremony vases and sand and our own centerpieces and i am so worried about how im going to get it all down.  I want to get chair bows too but i think im being unrealistic about space in our bags.

Question about gifts from guests. How is everyone handling this issue. I know that even if you tell people not to bring a gift or monetary gift with card they still will. Europeans always give cash and I am worried about how to accept the gifts down there and also where to store anything received. What are all you guys doing? Anyone having a card box at their reception?

Lisa, I'm wondering about the same issue.  I'm putting on our website to please not bring gifts, but there will always be a few who will.  I feel like a card box might be too much, but I also know some of my guests will expect it.  I might just collect them as they come and put them aside and *hope* I don't lose them...but that might not be wise either!

I was stressing about the same thing right before we went down. We ended up packing everything in 2 large suitcases and a carry on. We were fortunate to have friends and family who took down the extra bags and we just gave them $ for the extra baggage fee.

The chair bows won't take up much space at all and definately worth bringing your own to save $. The ones I bought came in a flat package and they could easily fit in with your clothes.

Hi Hilla,

I believe there is a $250 one time set-up fee if you want to have a private bar right at your event. That includes a bartender. No per hour or per person charge. Otherwise, the waiters will get the drinks people order from the bars or restaurants nearby.  That's what my notes say at least!

Any of you had any experience with 'Sparklers' at the Now Jade resort?!?! I know I can not bring them with me or transport any into Mexico, but was curious if any of you had found some in Mexico or coordinated them with your WC? Interested in what you might have paid.

THANKS!

Robin

Hey Robin,

Did the resort say that you could have your sparklers shipped to them for your wedding because this website  http://www.sayanythingceramics.com/sparklers.php  allows you to ship their sparklers outside the U.S.  That's what I was hoping to do for my wedding but I hadn't talked to Pilar about it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
