Since the photog is included in the Divine package he wasn't going to charge extra because i wasn't going to use him on the day of. I was just going to have him do the TTD session and use a different photog on the day of the wedding.

Mischaka,

Did you get quotes from the photographer on how much he charges for the TTD session?

Hi Girls!

I just heard back from Pilar about something a few of you might be interested in.  I'm having my reception at Las Olas and she sent me an email today about random stuff like setting up a time to meet when I get there and going over some last minute questions.

Anyway-about Las Olas.  She informed me that it closes at 6 PM and it will take approximately 2 hours to set up everything for the reception.  Naturally I freaked out a little bit because my ceremony is at 5 PM so I don't really anticipate the reception starting any later than 6:30 or 7...which meant there was no way las olas would be ready in time...and I wanted something semi outside but covered and the festival terrace was too small for my group.  And a reception by the pool outside meant I just wasted a bunch of money on paper lanterns that can't be hung anymore.

So she has assured me that it can indeed be ready for the reception-but I'm still a little nervous.  I will let you guys know what I finally decide and if I still go with las olas-if they are actually able to get it ready in time.  I just wanted to let anyone else that was thinking about doing it there know the time restrictions.  Unless you want a big break between your ceremony and reception-the ceremony will definitely have to be at 5 or later to have it work out.

Hi Tracy

That was exactly the reason why I didn't choose Las Olas. My wedding is at 4pm and I didn't want my guests waiting around. Too bad though because I think it is actually the best location on the resort personally. Oh well the Bamboo room actually works well for me as I didn't want my 80year old grandmother dying of heat!

I saw that you are on another thread for makeup. I was wondering if you are not taking the hair and makeup in the divine package if they allowed you to swtich for something else? Also who did you finally decide to go with and why?

Thanks

Lisa

I was able to swap the hair-but I worked all that out a few months ago before they put in all the new rules.  My good friend has been my hairdresser for nearly 10 years so she is actually coming to the wedding and doing my hair for me while we are there.  The makup is still up in the air.  I'm looking at a few people-but haven't decided yet if I want to spend the extra money.  I'd like to do it as a suprise for the bridesmaids and my mom for all their help and patience lately!

My only hesitation about using the spa folks is that I was in a wedding in st lucia a few months ago and my best friend that was getting married paid a ton of money for the resort to do our hair and makeup and it ended up looking kind of crazy.  I basically had to pull my hair back and redo my face after they left.  The experience just made me really nervous for my own wedding.  And since the reviews for this resort are super limited because of how new it is-I was a little reluctant to be the first to try it out.  Not to say that they wouldn't do a fabulous job-I just have nothing to go on!  It's just my own fears...nothing that is actually justified by what other people have said!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
