We are doing small OOT bags. The only personalized thing we are going to throw in there are koozies for right now. Our friends love using them. If I can find some inexpensive tumblers that are tropical I might throw some in there but I don't want to bring a whole ton down there.

My fiance is wearing pants and a linen shirt as well.  He wants to wear sandals with it-but my lovely mother had a fit (she wanted to the full suit and all)...it wasn't worth the fight so we compromised and he's wearing dress shoes for the ceremony then switching to sandals for the reception.

I think a suit just depends on the season.  We could probably get away with it since it's an evening wedding in late October-but most of the summer months might be pretty hot.

As far as the bags-we are giving some to the guests (although I should stop saying "we" as I am the only one that actually did any of the work!).  I ended up getting some canvas bags with colored handles at the dollar store of all places.  They are nice decent bags.  I got travel mugs to put in there at www.discountmugs.com for a pretty reasonable price.  If you sign up for their email-you get some great discount codes to use.  Also-I put Sudoku and/or Crossword puzzle books in it.  And finally-a little "survival kit" that has things like mini advil packets, pepto bismol tablets, bandaids, sunscreen, etc...

I really had fun finding things to put in there but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to give to all the guests.  It's just a nice gesture if you have the time (and space in your suitcases) to put everything.  My future hubby is a commercial pilot so we don't have to pay any extra for multiple pieces of luggage-otherwise the expense might outway the novelty of it.

Just FYI-

The closer we get to the wedding-the email responses seem to pick up and Pilar is being very pleasant and accomodating.  It's a nice change!

So I guess the moral of all this is that you might have to wait till the last minute-but it should all (hopefully) work out!

More anxious than nervous.  Everything is basically done except waiting on Pilar to give me the ok for my time slot for our welcome dinner.

Time should go by fast though.  We are flying to Vegas for the night next Saturday and getting legally married there-just the 2 of us.  Last minute decision instead of going down to the JOP to make it official...one of the perks to marrying a pilot I guess! :-)

Hi everyone, i havent had a chance to post much in the last couple days.

There's no way I could get Shane to wear a suit in 80 degree weather so we're either just going to do linen pants and linen shirt or khakis and a white button down.

We are doing OOT bags.  We got water bottles, beach scented candles, tums, advil, sunblock, lip balm, and some other little goodies.  We might do koozies too. And I'm making welcome books for everyone that we'll also put in there with a schedule of events, spanish for dummies, and a meet the guests section.  I have no idea how we're going to get everything down on top of decorations and all, but I felt it was necessary to do something special for the guests who are spending so much money to be there.  I guess we can just bring like 4 suitcases down (2 each) and then on the way back we'll have much less so i can fit one suitcase inside another.  Extra bag fees are only $25/$35.

One thing we're having issues with right now is the cost of flights.  From Denver, Philly, and Chicago (where our guests are), they are way over $400.  Did anyone get any good deals on flights?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
