FYI about the Buffets - I know I posted this before but I just got an update from Pilar on my swaps for the buffet.  I asked for 5 different items throughout the menu and she ok'd everything.  I think she's ok as long as you try to stay within the same kind of food.  Like a salad for a different salad, dessert for dessert, etc.

Hi there, you must be getting very excited - not long now, me on the other hand...so frustrated. I'm having the same problems as you - taking 4 days to reply, not answering phone calls and just not understanding what I've said about 10 times in writing and on the phone! I'm curious as to who you have for photo and video, cause I seem to have different people...x

Just got an email back from Pilar-only took about a week this time...lol.  Hopefully the correspondence will get faster since my wedding is in less than a month.  I think we have finally got the quote totally worked out...except that she still shows my reception on the Festival Terrace instead of Las Olas (even though I've corrected it for her on about 10 emails)-but the money and all the swaps were correct.  Speaking of swaps-I'm really disappointed that they are not allowing this anymore.  The a la cart prices are high in my opinion-so it just makes sense to change out a few items to customize a package.  Her flexibility with that kind of thing was one of the main reasons I chose this resort.  I'm really sorry about the girls that are having so many issues with this stuff!  I know it's a pain-especially when you don't get answers for 2 weeks and you're in the middle of trying to plan other things based on her answers.

Ok-so here's the new info I have.

DJ Info:

Alex Martinez

AV Solutions

website: www.avsc.com.mx

email:  alex@avsc.com.mx

Office:     8-98-84-09
Cellular:   9981-47-49-34

The DJ can make special announcements-he just wants to a schedule and an idea of what you want him to say.

You can also bring your own CD or IPOD if you have certain songs you want him to play intermixed with his regular music.  He would prefer  them to be in ".wav" or ".mp3" format.

Buffet Options for Dinner:

I I had a hard time picking the buffet to use for the reception (I have more than 50 people-so I went with this option).

There were different things I liked from each menu.  I ended up going with "The Mexican" which is a random assortment of traditional mexican dishes.  Anyway-there were a few things on the buffet that I did not really care for and asked if I could swap them for dishes from some of the other buffet menus.  I was hesitant to post this because of all the swapping controversy-but she just sent me the emailing saying it was ok 2 days ago-so I'm hoping it's still an option for the other brides that may have been thinking the same thing.

I got the impression that she would not let you create your own customized menu with all kinds of different things from all the menus-but she appears to be ok with changing out a few items.

Hope this helps!

Ok I spoke to my FMIL last night and she said the resort is so beautiful. Everyone is very accomdiating and friendly. She said the Blue Bar was the best bar by far. They went there every night. She said Pilar was much easier to talk to in person and very nice. This resort has become such a hit that she has 116 weddings in the first semester. I'm not sure what a semester is but she's a little overwhelmed with all of it but it's a good thing for them. She said the food was WONDERFUL!!! I'm glad to hear that. She said the sports bar was small and a little disapointting but it will work for people to go to after the reception. I will post pictures once I see her. I'm sure that I will have much more to say but I'm recovering from surgery yesterday and still pretty out of it.

Lucky you Ashley! I would love to do a site visit but can't find the time this year and not sure if I can fit it in the budget for early next year as all the prices are higher in the winter. They have really good deals on from now until mid december i think with bookit at 79$ a night for the room per person if anyone is interested in going.

Thanks for the update Futuremrsholt, especially since you are recovering!! Hope you are feeling better today and so glad to hear the the site visit went well. My fiance and I went in July before we decided to get married there and loved everything, I'm glad to hear that nothing has changed :) We were especially thrilled with the restaurants bc we figured that all inclusive food would not be too tasty so I'm happy to know your parents feel the same.

An update on our planning- We are full steam ahead for Jan 17th...Photog and DJ booked, my dress and shoes ordered and the bridal party is ready as well. We booked our actual stay yesterday for 10 nights and our first guests book today...I'm sooo thrilled!! Prices went down a bit so it was a great time for us to book. I had to fire my destinationwedding agent and book with someone else because she were being unreasonable with pricing and a bit crass with things.

I found the webinar last weekend informative and I got a few questions answered that had been ignored in a million emails. I was glad to hear that we can send down decorations and such prior to coming (though i still have to figure out what can't come through customs, ie. peacock feathers, lanterns) But I was disappointed at all of the extra fees for everything and the no swapping rules that they seem to be adamant about...it's a little unfair to future brides that haven't negotiated yet sad.gif

I'm hoping to put my deposit down on a date for next fall and I need to select my ceremony/reception locations on the form. Pilar sent me information but I don't see a lot of options for larger wedding party receptions. I'm hoping we'll get 75-ish. I like the pergola for the ceremony and I'd love a covered patio or something similar for the reception. I've read that some of you guys are using Las Olas and others are using the Bamboo Room (what is that by the way? I didn't see it in any of the info she sent). Thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
