Kara, I emailed Pilar yesterday about the centerpieces...I'll let you know when I hear back.

I'm getting married on the beach too...and Pilar said it includes the canopy

Did anyone get clarification on how many centerpieces are provided in the Eternity package?  If it's only one I might use my flowers and the bridesmaid flowers as centerpieces.

I'm getting married on the beach. Does that package include the cost to set up the for the wooden four post canopy on the beach?

I am still on the fence between Dreams Tulum and NOW Jade Riviera Resort. Have any of you considered both resorts and, if so, what did you see as the pros and cons of each and why did you prefer one over the other?

Thanks! I'll be so glad when I finally choose a spot for my wedding in August of next year. I'm just so nervous about making the right choice for myself and also for my guests who will likely be spending their vacation time/money to attend my wedding.

I never considered Dreams, but I don't remember why..hmm...maybe it is really big? However, I considered many other resorts and Now Jade was the one that had everything I wanted, I considered: price, size of resort, ceremony locations, kids allowed, no wristbands, private beach, location etc. I almost went with Gran Porto Real but I didn't like that they have wristbands for guests and no private beach. It was very important to me to find an affordable resort for my guests but at the same time something that seemed nice.

I know how hard this decision is, I was so happy when I finally made a decision and then I had to make the decision for the date & time, which turned out to be even harder haha!

I considered all of the Dreams Resorts...i really liked them all.  When it came down to Dreams Tulum and the Now resorts for me, I considered my guests who are only coming for 3 days.  The Tulum resort can take 2 hours to get to from the airport on the shuttle (if there are any other stops), and Now Jade is only 20 minutes away.  I didnt want people spending 4 hours of their time in 3 days just getting to and from the airport...especially after they just flew all this way for us.  That was really all it came down to though.  So if you dont have people making short trips, I think they're both really awesome.

Thanks, SKing24. That is a really good point since I will also have a few quests who are only going to stay 3 nights.

Primavera, thanks for your input. I am also looking for those same things for my guests. I just want them to have fun since they are making a vacation out of it.

I've been to both resorts and I am getting married at Jade in November! cheesy.gif We went to a friends wedding at Tulum 2 years ago and while down there touring to see which resort we would be married, we saw Jade. Here's why we choose it over Tulum:

Jade is so much closer to the airport. The shuttle ride to Tulum is not fun. (Sking24 is right about the 2 hour thing) Neither is the drive with a rental.

It's cheaper.

It's gorgeous! Really modern looking and I like that aesthetic better. (It doesn't fit in with a traditional "Mexican" looking resort)

It's now a AMR resort which we loved about Dreams Tulum (no wristbands, no reservations, great service, great rating, great reviews, etc.)

It had an amazing terrace overlooking the water that was "private" for the ceremony.
It is really close to the 2 major cities with shopping and nightlife and also within walking distance to Puerto Morelos.

They only allow 2 weddings a day. (Tulum might say this, but the day of my friends wedding, there were 4 weddings)

However, Tulum is great for many reasons too:

Despite the drive in, it's right down the beach from the ruins and a shorter drive to Chitzen Itza (sp)

It's a big, beautiful resort. It's set into the jungle/ mangrove a bit and has more mature landscaping.

The entryway blew me away. You get excited just driving up to the resort. That is definitely NOT the case with Jade :(

They have hammocks and canopy beds which I loved.

They also have a small, pretty chapel, so if you want that, it's a great option.

Go down and visit! I have no idea how anyone picks a resort without doing it! Hope this helps.

Carly

I was torn too. Did you look at traveler pictures on www.tripadvisor.com ? I don't pay much attention to the reviews on there, I just look at the pictures.

I decided on NOW Jade because it's much closer for my guests to the airport. Not everyone will stay the full 7 days like us. I also like the two infinity pools at NOW Jade. I have one guest who can't make it to the beach due to being in a wheel chair.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
