I would also love to get a copy of it.  I did get some information from Pilar but there was nothing about cakes, flowers, etc... so I'm thinking it was a different set of information! Could I get a copy pleeeease? ayslinnichelle at gmail dot com =)

Thanks! =)

Oh and so I have some questions about this travel agent thing... do they charge you to use them? How much does it typically cost? I'm pretty web-savvy so I'm skeptical about using a TA and I've never used one before either so I'm not entirely sure I'd know how.

Do you just pick one, email them, and ask them how good of a deal they could get you for your chosen destination? and what about group bookings?

help?  smile43.gif

I think Pilar will email you the booklet when you put your deposit down for the wedding package you choose.

As for the travel agent, mine required a retainer fee. You can choose to do a group booking where the TA will have the hotel hold a # of rooms. Or you can have everyone book through your agent so you can have all their info and if anything happens your TA will be the one to handle those situations. You don't HAVE to have a TA but it's better if you do so you are concentrating on the wedding only.

oh got it.  I might just wait and see how many people say they're coming before I get a TA... if it's more than my immediate family/closest friends (about 15 people) then I will probably jump on the TA bandwagon.  Otherwise... eh.  15 people seems like a lot but really they're all grouped in groups of 3, 2, etc from the same household... so it's not really that many bookings to keep track of.

So regarding the TA. It will save you time and trouble to use one. Even if you don't have many people coming, I highly recommend using destinationweddings.com. Why you should go with them: http://www.destinationweddings.com/dw/site/main/PlaceDeposit.asp?gs=1&ori=hf

I am so glad we used them. It was only $50 and that is just a deposit. You get the money refunded when you book your travel. Best part is all my guests have a personal TA, an emergency line, trip insurance, guaranteed transfers, guaranteed rooms even if the resort overbooks, and a interest free payment plan. Beyond just a travel agent, my specialist has negotiated deals, helped me with plans, helped us book a honeymoon, gives me great advice, and is a general great person to call and vent! :) They should pay me for all the referrals I've given!!

Hi,

I'm new to the thread and was wondering what other resorts everyone was considering before finally deciding on Now Jade? There are soo many choices out there I don't know how to narrow down since I haven't actually been to any of them! Jade looks amazing but I'm not quite sure how to narrow down my choices.

Any advice or suggestions??

whoa? really? I had no clue! I thought TA's were much more expensive than that (price is definitely a factor in whether or not I decide to use one.)  Did you have to pay for any of the extras- trip insurance, payment plan, etc?

Yep it's cheaper than using a local travel agency. They get paid by the resorts and transort companies. Plus they have so much exerience! The interest free payment plan is free and you have the option to buy trip insurance through them. We did just incase!

There are free TAs out there too. Beach Bum Vacations for example, you can google them and visit the website. You pay for the insurance but it is optional. There are probably more free TAs as well.

I'm trying to make a decision as well. At the moment I'm looking at the NOW resorts and the Gran Porto Real. I look at the size of the resort, location, the beach, THE PRICE, and the wedding package mostly. It is so hard to choose though huh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
