I am getting married at the NOW Jade on 6/11/11...has anyone had any success negotiating the wedding packages with them? We are expecting around 80 guests and the divine wedding package only covers 25 people. So....I have to pay per person-- $53 for the dinner, $15 for the cake, $4 for the champaign and $15 for the hour devours hour! I just don't understand why they would charge so much extra per person when all of these guests are already staying at the resort! Please share any advice you have ladies!

Yes. Try and negotiate. I have a a wedding planner/travel agent from Destinationweddings.com and she has been a life saver when it comes to getting us good prices. And my fiance negociates for a living so he is getting us good deals. I have 80+ people coming and with so many, you can get better rates on the dinners, and even your room for free. Just ask Pilar and if that doesn't get you anywhere, ask the sales manager. I'm sure they will work with you. They charge all this extra beacuse they can...but their prices are really comprable and even better than other wedding packages at other resorts. Happy planning!!

Hi Ladies

Not sure if i am posting this right as it is my first post. I am getting married at the now jade resort in the mayan april 26th 2011 and i am very excited as it looks beautiful. I have heard some mixed reviews and from personal experience it is hit or miss with Pillar with her response time. The packages there are for a maximum of 25 people and we will have about 50 to 60. What pricing has anyone else got for additional dinner? They say 48 per person for eternity and 53 per person for divine package. Has anyone had experience in swapping options in the packages? Any florist recommendations for the area as they want to charge 500$ for a pergola flower centerpiece which i think is way too expensive. Has anyone shipped items to the resort from canada and if so what were the shipping costs. I am thinking of going with a starfish theme and could use and appreciate any help! Thanks Lisa

I'm glad we're getting so many brides, so we can all plan together. Our $500 deposit was just charged last week, so I haven't even really started talking to Pilar yet. We're planning on anywhere from 60-75 guests attending too and there's no way we can spend that much per person! One idea i had was to ask to swap out the cocktail hour for more people at the reception because our guests can just go to a bar for free for the cocktail hour. And the wedding party and parents will be getting pictures anyway so i dont want to pay per hour for cocktails. Anyone else who has money saving or swapping ideas, please share!

I think we have it narrowed down to Azul Sensatori and NOW Jade. I have a lot of info on Azul but can not find any photos of weddings at Jade. Does anyone have anything they could share? Also, any feedback on either resort would be welcome. Thanks much!
So I actually just got back from visiting both resorts this weekend. We stayed at NOW Jade and only visited the Azul Sensatori. I have to say that NOW Jade was our favorite. Azul was nice but more crowded and the service did not seem as good (keep in mind we were only there to tour the resort and ate at one of the restaurants) also my fiance kept making comments that no one there was smiling. LOL NOW Jade was very open and had beautiful grounds. Azul looked to have a nicer beach. The food was about the same at each. NOW Jade had AMAZING service, everyone was soooo nice and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. When we arrived we were upgraded to the preferred club which was very nice. We felt VIP all weekend :) Overall I am very glad that we looked at both but I am extremely confidant in our decision to have our wedding at NOW Jade. Now we just have to wait a year sad.gif I hope this helps!

Hi all, as I said before I am bringing along my own photographer and thanks to Tracysab I was able to trade the photographer included in the package for the Caribean Trio to play at the cocktail hour THANK YOU for the idea Tracy!!!!!

I am also curious to know which location people have chosen to have their reception dinner......I chose to have the cocktails and dinner at the Blue Beach bar but not really being able to see the bar I am nervous I made the wrong choice......so let me know what you ladies think/choose please :)

thanks!! Amie Feb 11, 2011 Bride

I chose the Festival Terrace on my original form, but I'm in the same boat as you because without seeing it, I dont feel 100% comfortable. I think if there's no other weddings that day, they may let you switch once you get down there for your wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
