DJ Mannia is a preferred DJ of the PPR resort now and it is cheaper to book them through the romance department because if you don't you will have to pay a $120 vendor fee. That is probably why he told you to contact her if you are interested in booking him.

No actually, everything played from FI's netbook. We had an ipod for a back-up - in case the netbook would fail or we could not plug it in or something.

So we downloaded the software to the netbook and imported all the mp3 from the desktop we have at home. The netbook was connected to the speakers we rented - for the party we rented just speakers and lights - and to the hotel speakers system (they use ipod themselves for their music) for the welcome party, the cocktail, and the lunch the next day.

I also booked with DJ Mania. We think the music can make or break your reception and decided to spend the money. We were at a Wedding recently where the music was not great and guests were literally leaving before the Reception was even over and felt terrible for the Bride.

There are definitely mixed reviews but I have decided to go with the IPOD. I love music and my music library is massive! Our ceremony will have live music by steel pan (drum), but the reception will be hosted by the Ipod. I plan on working with a DJ that I know to learn how to fade the music so that the songs play continuously without gaps. Also, I will ask someone that is trustworthy to ensure that the Ipod is running and that all is going well. The virtualdj sounds very interesting I am definitely going to look into that also. Thanks so much for sharing.

We got married in February at the Occidental Grand Xcaret and rented out the disco there, which included their DJ's services. We brought a CD of songs we wanted to play, which included our first dance and the wedding party dance, and the DJ was very accommodating. Also, the songs he played from his own music collection were fine with us -- they were popular dancing songs you'd hear at weddings and parties. I think they try to cater to the North American tourists. I'm glad we went the disco/DJ route -- everyone had a lot of fun and it was one less thing for us to stress about.

We hired DJ Mannia. To me, he wasn't that expensive compared to some of the other quotes I got even locally. And from the reviews I've read, they are totally worth it! Personally, for me, I could not imagine just having an Ipod, as I think a DJ brings something else to the table as far as entertainment. Plus, we used to own a nightclub, so we're kind of "DJ" people. hehe. We have lots of dancing friends. Lol. I think it's just a personal choice though. I don't think one will be better or worse than another. Just whatever you feel comfortable with and whatever is within your budget. Also, I didn't want to have to worry about manning the Ipod or assigning anyone else to do it. I feel bad enough assigning two of my BM's to the camera for the photo guest book! I'm sure whatever you do will be great. In the end I think one is more work (manning the Ipod) and one is more money (hiring a Dj). Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
