I was just wondering if any brides use Tripadvisor as a resource for picking the hotel that fits their needs best? After writing an unfavorable review about a hotel I stayed in, one of the brides that is having their wedding there, kind of layed into me about how "inconsiderate" I was posting the review when so many people have chosen that resort for their wedding. She then said that my review would make these brides very worried now. The funny thing is that after this bride tells me how inconsiderate I was, she then posted my review in that hotel's thread! To me, if you are trying to protect the brides from getting really nervous and even commenting that I should not have written the review, why post the negative review in the thread and ask the brides if they have seen it? Anyway, I just wanted to inform brides that Tripadvisor is a also great resource for picking a hotel to start with. There are certain things that are important to each individual bride, and I really think tripadvisor gives great unbiased reviews from people who have actually been to that resort. Of course, some people complain about everything, but if you take each review with a grain of salt, I believe that it is very helpful. Hope this helps! Happy Planning!

Ive use trip advisor ALOT to read up on reviews...but mostly for the pictures posted by guests. Not just for our wedding, but to pick places for vacation too! Sounds kinda lame that someone would copy your review and post it on another site. You are entitled (and respected in my book) to give your honest opinion and thoughts. to me, if someone came on here and posted an awful review about their wedding at dreams cancun - i would think to myself, gee what can i do to make sure that doesnt happen to me, not get all panicky about it! No site will ever have 100% positive reviews!

I too checked Tripadvisor. But when checking these reviews you also have to understand that every body can have a different experience and have different expectations. So I took all the information I recieve with a grain of salt so to speak. And I will have to form an opinion on my own.

i think the person who layed into you is v childish and dont let it get to you. Tripadvisor is there as a source of information to enable future customers of the hotel to make their OWN decision. We all know what we are doing and what we expect to find on Tripadvisor and i cannot believe any bride would dismiss the hotel just from your one review (in the nicest possible sense) - we all love different places and have different opinions - the world would be a v boring place if we all had the same opinio. You havent done anything wrong and dont feel you need to justify why you wrote what you did.

I used Tripadvisor a lot, especially to get more current up to date images of the rooms, grounds and beach. Everyone has different expectations and needs of what makes a perfect vacation / wedding. I appreciate all reviews but take them with a grain of salt. It's like movies critics... how many times have movie critics hated a movie I liked? it's all very subjective.

Anyway, I read your post, and while your experience was not what you wanted/expected, I don't think it would have necessarily deterred me from that resort had it been my choice. You know? It's an honest opinion and I don't think you said anything too horrible. The more info people can get the better, good or bad or not.

That being said... people need to keep in mind when reading reviews on places like Trip Advisor, is more people will write a negative review about something than they would a positive review.

hmmm...I read your last review on here. I'm wondering why you're bringing it up again? Sounds to me like you're trying to stir up trouble a little bit. Why not just recommend tripadvisor instead of rehashing the whole situation of the previous review you wrote on BDW? Just curious...

LadyTrunck- I am not trying to rehash anything or start trouble. I do not go on this site as often as others and just noticed that my review was in another thread. I just wanted suggest people also using tripadvisor as a resource because in cases where mine where I wrote an unfavorable review, people were not happy. I travel quite often, and I need to hear both negatives and postitives of a resort in order to see what works best for me. The only reason why I even brought up tripadvisor/and my review, is because I want to hear people's honest opinions, and don't want brides to feel like they will be attacked if they write an unfavorable review about the resort other brides are having their wedding in.

i used trip advisor a lot to get a true picture of what the hotels looked like other than what they show on their websites, the reviews do intrigue me as they vary so much but Im a bit addicted and its turned into one of my must do lunchtime website checks!

Ok- it just sounded a little unnecessarily snarky to me...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
