Krista.Baird- Wherever you got that first picture did they have a view of the back of her hair? I really think that looks great! Thanks so much guys for all this advice! My veil seems to be one that you would wear on the top of you head cuz it has sides (i donno really how to explain) so I was wondering if I didnt like with my hair if theres such thing as altering a veil? to cute the sides off? All in all, I think I'm just gonna have to go to the hair trial and see what they come up with. We cant take this veil back either sad.gif Anyone know of a website to get a plain tiny simple veil with no beading or anything? I've been looking and cant find anything! Thanks so much guys!!

I don't think it will look stupid at all (btw, LOVE that hairdo). The pictures that Krista posted look beautiful. I also like the idea of wearing your hair down for the veil and then gently making a side pony tail for the reception where you won't wear the veil. It will make his Mom happy, it's such a small issue that I would not risk hurting her feelings even the slightest bit on what's supposed to be such a happy day. Unless you REALLY can't stand the veil :)

My dress has a "fancy" back as well so I plan to take the veil off for the reception and especially when I'm dancing so it doesn't get into people's faces!

I know a veil is see-thru but I still think it will take away from it.

MDLady- Wearing my hair down is completely out of the question unfortunatly! I am totally a hair down kind of person, but for the back of my dress, I cant. My hair is too long and it will cover the entire bead work on the back of my dress thus I've settled with a side ponytail. I always envisioned myself with my hair down and curled but obvi that went out the window with the dress I picked.

Hi Island Bride,

Sorry but there is no back pic of that hair. I just googled side ponytail and veil and looked for images. Is there any way you could change your veil so that it is on a simple small comb?

Do you mind if I asked if you considered wearing your hair up with the veil for the ceremony, but in a simple bun or something. Then when it's time for reception or pictures, etc, you can take the veil off, let the bun out, and have a cute side ponytail? That's what Im considering doing because I can't decide between an updo or a side ponytail, this way I can have both :)

I think you would be fine if you got the side ponytail and wore the veil during the ceremony and took it off for the reception. I'm sure you could alter the veil, but if I spent $150 on a veil and cut it all up I would be upset. Oh I don’t blame you for wanting to not cover up the back of your dress! It’s gorgeous! Maybe the veil can be made shorter so you don’t cover the back of the dress but the veil still looks the same but shorter.

You DEFINITELY need a hair trial! I would do that first with the veil and see how it all looks then make your decision.

The BACK OF YOUR GOWN is positively STUNNING....I am a Maggie bride myself, and that feature of the gown IS, in essence, it's showpiece -- so I KNOW why you would rather do anything else than cover it up!

And I took a look at the veil you posted as the one you sort of "have" to wear by default. Hmmmmmn.....here's a compromise-suggestion: can they cut away all the extra layers and make it one-tier (whichever layer/length you choose) and call it even?

THEN, you'll still be wearing a veil, but being only 1 very sheer layer, you'll still get the effect of the detail on the back of your gown without missing a beat?

And even more, let me echo the other girls that said one VERY IMPORTANT THING:

YOU ARE THE BRIDE!!!

Look how you want to look; do what you want to do....it IS YOUR ONE DAY to be completely, unapologectically selfish in the way YOU LOOK, so compromise for NO ONE!

But that is just my $0.02 wink.gif

Good luck, sugar! Please let us know what you come up with in the end!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
