Hi. I'm getting married on Grand Bahama Island (GBI) and I'm flying my photographer in from another island in the Bahamas. It ended up being less expensive than using a photographer from GBI and wayyy less than the one offered by my hotel. So the decision was right for me because I found a great photographer within my price range.

I'd say definitely consider any good photographer in Cabo, but don't be afraid to look elsewhere in Mexico, back home, or anywhere else. You might find a good deal.

Only cautionary note is that some places require photographers from outside of the country to pay an extra fee to do photography work in the country. Not sure that applies to Cabo? So do your research.

We are flying our photographer in. The hotel we are using have assiciated photographers and if you choose to not go with them, you cannot choose another photog from the same city. Photography is really important to us, we wanted to have someone who fit our style taking our photos! In the end flying our photog in is the same cost as using the hotel's photog.

We are also flying a photographer in. We found it to be the cheapest and you have them the entire time they are there. There are also a ton of photographers that are fantastic but want to get into destination weddings that will come for just the cost of air and hotel. So many choices though as there are some great ones in Mexico as well but make sure you find out if your resort has an outside vendor fee or allows outside vendors.

When we were originally going to get married in Mexico I planned to use a photographer from there since their are so many great ones to choose from but when we switched to the DR I did not find anyone i was crazy about. Photography is really important to us so I found a great photographer near me. in the end for the amount of coverage we are getting it would of been the same price as using the hotel's photographer.

We flew our photographers to our wedding and it was THE BEST decision we could have possibly made! Unfortunately, the photographers in our area -- the Riveria Maya -- were not in our price range for the type of photography and services we wanted. So we lucked up finding a pair who was willing to shoot our welcome dinner, wedding day and day-after session for costs of travel/accomodations only. This ended up being right in our price range and they were AMAZING photographers as well wink.gif

My best advice is to figure out whether it is cost efficient for you to fly your photographer out to your location and most importantly, if the photographer actually fits the needs and style you are looking for. Like the other gals have said, make sure your venue allows outside photogs to document your wedding because some don't or require some sort of fee to be paid.

Good luck on whatever you eventually decide! cheers.gif

We flew ours in! Same photographer as MarieSam actually :)

totally worth it. When we factored in the cost of a local photographer vs. flying one down it was not much more money. I recommend it if you find someone you love!

I, too, am flying my photographer in. I'm from Canada, but I had an awesome photographer recommended to me from a friend who lives in Arkansas. She's from Louisiana and she does awesome work! I'm so excited to meet her and she's doing my welcome dinner, all wedding day and next day TTD for the price of hotel and airfare. It's waaaaay cheaper than most of the photographers in the Mayan Riviera, and she does awesome work! her blog is

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
