Insuring your Engagement Ring

Recommended Posts

My ring is insured through Allstate as well. We recieved a discount for insuring the car, the apartment and the ring all through the same compnay. I think we pay an extra $3 or $4 a month for the ring insurance.

Also ask your insurance agent questions about what is covered and what is not. Some will only cover the ring if its lost in the home or have other stipulations. I actually added it as "scheduled" item and this covers the entire ring no matter where its lost or stolen. It costs a bit more, but you never know when things can happen.

I finally got insurance for my e-ring! I can't believe I've waited this long. Anyway I bought it from Jewelers Mutual - I like the idea of a company that specializes and has no deductible. Anyway, for those of you who haven't done this yet - just a friendly reminder!

We haven't had to file a claim for it - thank god!! But basically I think the standard rule is to have it on your homeowners/renters ins. You may even want to just go through your current policy to see what they cover, any stipulations, deductibles etc. Then see if you want to change to a different/better plan?
My friends husband got hers under USAA (hes Navy too). He also has his credit cards insured as well. One day they lost about 700 us dollars worth of stuff on the train and all he had to do was call the up and they cut the check the next day!
My ring is going to be under my FI's home owners insurance in the US. State Farm or something.

BAD idea) anyway, one of our friends has had his diamond fall out 3 times, and every single time they replace it with practically NO questions asked and his rate has never increased.
I checked this place out. Their rates start at $50 per year for a $5000 ring. It varies on where you live. You can also make it cheaper by having a deductable.

My friend who is visting has a beautiful royal ascher ring. I love her ring. We were talking about insurance & she said she was told it was so expensive that in a few years you had spent as much as the ring costs. I guess the person who told her that had gotten a bad quote.

We plan to meet with our insurance company next week. Great info!!

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
