Wedding with Children

I'm trying to figure out the best destination for a wedding that includes three kids (16, 10 and eight) as well as our parents and siblings. We'd like to find an all-inclusive possibly, but open to other ideas as well. We definitely love snorkelling so that's a must.

Ideally, we'd like to have the family there for 3-4 days, and then we would finish out the week by ourselves...not sure if this is an option or not.

Any suggestions and feedback would definitely be appreciated.

Thank you!!!

Welcome to the forum! The Dreams resorts offer a lot for different age appropriate options. Our wedding was at Dreams Puerto Vallarta and the brother in law was married at Dreams Cancun. Both weddings were a blast and had kids ranging from 1, 2, 4, 6, 12, 13, 17, a bunch of guests in their late 20s/30s and even adults up to 80! Happy planning :)

Check out Vecinos in Cabarete DR - excellent choice for a small intimate family wedding - and minutes from a very popular snorkeling beach at Sosua. Lots of other family-friendly activities and attractions in the area too - might just be a great fit.

Best of luck with your planning and enjoy the process........Lynda :)

We are going with the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum as we have had some friends married there and they are great things for kids. We'll have kids there from age 18 months to 10)

In terms of your guests going for only 3-4 days and you and your FI staying the 7...check out the price difference with your travel agent...when we starting at looking at places to have ours it turned out the4 day package was just as much as the 7 day and when you factor that you are travelling on your first and last day it turned out not to be worth it to book 4 day packages for our guests....at least for us anyway. Not sure if any other ladies have run into the same thing!

Congrats though and happy planning!

Welcome! There are TONS of resorts that are appropriate for weddings and family members of all ages. You need to narrow down the destination first, and once you've chosen that, start researching the actual resorts. You'll see forums on here dedicated to all of the different regions. Have a look through to get info on the areas, and if you're still having trouble deciding I would engage the help of one of the travel agents associated with this site (see banner ads at the top of your screen). They're specialists in destination weddings that can help you make a decision. Good luck and happy planning!

Congratulations! My FI and I also wanted to have a few days in Mexico on our own. We found that a lot of our guests want to stay for a full 7 days, so we decided to change hotels for the last 3 days. This may end up being a little bit more expensive, but I think it will be worth it to have some total relaxation and our guests can stay as long as they would like.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
