WARNING… DO NOT ORDER from ElegantlyEngraved.com!!!

I ordered a personalized Guest Signature Picture Frame w/ Engraveable Photo Mat from this "company" Elegantly Engraved on 3/6/10 for my 4/25/2010 wedding. I started to get a little worried when I had not received my order or gotten an order update 2-1/2 weeks later. Luckily, I had printed out my order receipt that showed proof of my purchase since I never got an order confirmation email from them.

I tried calling the phone number on their website, which is not in service (which is now gone from their site by the way). I tried using their on-line chat, but there was never anyone available. I also left a message through their “contact us†link on the website. Still no response. The charge on my credit card statement shows the charge was made by “Elegant Keepsakes". I called the number that was shown on my credit card statement for this company and that number is, of course, not in service.

I called my credit card company and they told me I could not file a dispute on the charge until 30 days after I placed my order. So, I decided to do some research in the meantime and find out if Elegant Keepsakes was somehow associated with Elegantly Engraved.

Now, Elegant Keepsakes IS a legitimate company and they are a supplier for WeddingStar. I sent an email through the Elegant Keepsakes website letting them know my situation and if they were associated with a company called Elegantly Engraved. A representative from WeddingStar contacted me via email the next day. They looked into the issue for me, but had the same contact number that I had. They told me that this company/person used to place orders with them, but stopped for some unknown reason; they would not give me a personâ€s name associated with this “company†though. The WeddingStar rep advised that I go ahead and dispute the charge with my credit card company since they were having no success getting in touch with anyone from this company either after several days of trying. WeddingStar offered to sell me a similar signature frame at the price that Elegantly Engraved had quoted me (which was $20 less than the WeddingStar price) and would ship it to me FedEx Air at no charge; I decided to take that offer. I talked to the WeddingStar rep over the phone again today and she gave me my FedEx Tracking number. I should receive my frame from WeddingStar by Friday, in time for my wedding. WeddingStar was extremely helpful.

I will be calling my credit card company tomorrow to file a dispute against the charges for the frame I never received since 30 days has finally passed. When I first started looking into Elegantly Engraved, I could not find out any info on the web about them. When I did a google search today, there are several complaints, similar to mine on the web Complaints Board | elegantlyengraved.com.

I've learned a huge lesson about on-line ordering. I will always search for reviews on a company before I order from them. I never even thought to check the “contact us†page to see how I would contact them if I had issues. I wonâ€t just order from a company because their prices are cheaper than the rest without looking into “why†first. For the most part, I try to use PayPal when ordering from the web if they offer it. I RARELY use my debit card to place online orders.

Wow that is terrible! Thankfully you'll get your frame for the same price and will eventually be reimbursed through your cc company.

Thank you for sharing this story with us! The only way to find out about these 'companies' is word of mouth most of the time.

ugghhh!! I won't lie..this scares me about online shopping from unknown companies. Hearing all these stories I think I will go ahead and spend a little extra from the big boys.

I really hope you can get it straightened out with your CC company!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
