Paradisus Palma Real Punta Cana 13 March 2010

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I just wanted to get my review up because I know there are not that many for this resort. Sorry it took me a little to get it posted. Sorry this is gonna be long.

First I want to thank everyone on this site. I received so much helpful information. I would have been so lost with out everyone.

Travel Agent- We used Liberty Travel. They didnâ€t really do much for us because I already knew where and when I wanted to go and our group was not very big. They were able to get our two tickets for $206 each because delta had misprinted and I paid right on the spot.

Flights- We traveled with Delta from Houston to ATL and ATL to Punta Cana. On the first flight there was another bride and me on the both plane. They were so nice to the both of us. We were both allowed to board early and they hung both of or dresses with no problems. ATL to Punta Cana was a smaller plane they also let us board early, so that we could lay my dress in the overhead bin. Putting my dress in the overhead bin worked out just fine. Nothing else was in the bin other than my dress. When we got to the resort the dress was perfect.

Check-In- RS Palma Real. When we were arrived at the resort we were taken to the Royal Service lounge and greeted with a nice warm towel. Check in went smoothly and we were taken right to our room. We did not get there till about 5 or 6 because of the weather in ATL. At that time our butler had already left for the day, Jose showed us around the resort and took us to our room. The next day we met with Jonathan who was wonderful. He made all of our dinner reservation and our Spa appointment. The huge one that he was able to do for me was my hair appointment. When I called to make my hair appointment for the day of my wedding they told me the only thing they had open was at 10 am and my wedding was not till 5pm. He was able to my appointment moved to 11:30 which I was so grateful for. He got us coconuts two mornings in a row, so that we could have fresh drinks.

Services- We didnâ€t have any problem with the Services at PPR. Even if you canâ€t speak Spanish very well they really appreciate your trying. Cory knew a few words and I mean like 5 words and they were happy that we were trying. Jonathan our server for Royal service was wonderful. Anything we needed he was able to do for us. Jonathan on our 2nd night there had chocolate covered strawberries brought to our room. They were sooooo yummy.

Spa- We used the spa three different times. The morning of the wedding Coryâ€s two sisters and I went over there. They had massages and I had a scrub. Everyone loved their treatment. After that Coryâ€s mom meet me over there to get my hair done. I loved my hair. I brought in pictures and told her how I wanted it. She did it just that way. They did it better then the people in the states when I had it done here. The third thing that we had done at the spa was a coupleâ€s massage. It was very relaxing and so romantic. It was a great way to end our wonderful trip.

Romances Team- We checked in on Wednesday at the Royal Service side and Jennifer from the Romances Team to let us know we would meet with Noelia on Friday morning at 9am. Well this was different then what we had set up on emails, But Noelia was going to be off or something on Thursday, so what could I really do about that. It really wasnâ€t a big deal. We met with Noelia and Romances Team and went over my planning that I had done with Teresa. There were no problems, everything was the same. We had not planned on having anything down the isle then they showed me these new wind chimes. They were so wonderful and sounded great with the waves in the back ground. The day of the wedding there were two weddings going on. I knew this the first day I got to PPR because we ran into each other and then they informed me of it at my meeting too. I never saw Noelia on my wedding day because I think she was dealing with the “bigger†wedding. That was fine by us because Jennifer was wonderful and we couldnâ€t have asked for more from her. The morning of the wedding they contacted me say that there was a high chance of rain and they really thought I need to move my reception location from the Olympic Terrace to a covered area that was over by the active desk. I was really unsure of this because I wanted to be able to see the beach and all that good stuff. They told me I had to let them know by noon because of all the set up, so I changed locations and it never rain. I was a little upset about this, but they did show me a weather forecast. Everything I had given them at the meeting was set up just how I wanted it. I had ribbon wand, my sand ceremony, and some other stuff. We used our IPod for our music and it was just fine. Someone from the Romances team manned the IPod and they played all the right music, so no worries there. The Ceremony started right at 5 p.m. which was great for pictures. Our cocktail was from 6 to 7 pm right on the beach. This was great, because everyone was able to just hang out on the beach and didnâ€t have to move to another location for the cocktail hour. To our surprise there was a full bar set up. In the meeting we made our minds up that we were just going to go with what was included in the Aqua package (three drink) I check the invoice and we were not charged for the full bar either. The full bar was set up at the reception as well. We had Tequila sunrises as our signature drink. (Which was set up at our meeting when we didnâ€t know we were having a full bar) We had chicken nuggets, grilled chicken skewers with a pineapple sauce, and fried shrimp, and beef skewers. Our family loved the food. At the Reception we had picked the BBQ buffet. It included New York steak, Lobster, grill chicken, and two salads and two desserts. Our cake was wonderful. We had a three tier cake the top and bottom layers were vanilla and the middle layer was chocolate. When we went back to our room the romances team had a nice warm bubble bath with rose petals room the door to the bathroom and then to the bed where there was a heart made on the bed with rose petals as wells. They had our breakfast brought to our room on Monday morning because we were going to do something the morning after the wedding. We had fruit, waffles, bread, and eggs in the shape of the heart.

OOT Bags- Everyone used everything in the bags and they are still using the bag and towels to this day. All of my guests came in about the same time maybe 30 to 40 mins apart. So we pasted out all the bags ourselves. We are very happy we past them out our selfâ€s, my guest were shock and so thankful that we made them for us and it was nice to see first hand.

Pastor York- We had paid for him to perform our ceremony and I think this was the best thing ever. He had contacted me a couple of weeks before we left to set up everything. The words that he used at our ceremony fit us so much. He had everyone in tear.

Nora Bohanon- Just wonderful. We meet with her on Friday to just go over everything. The next day she was will us all day. She was waiting on us at the spa, so that she was able to capture all the great moments of the day. After my hair was finish she came back to my room to get some more pictures of me relaxing and just hanging out with Cory and my mom. After that is was off to Coryâ€s room to get picture of him opening his gift (Boudoir photographers) and him getting ready. Nora made us feel so relaxed and I didnâ€t feel like she was posing us all the time. I felt like was able to capture more of our nature sides. Here are some of the pictures. Houston to ATL they guy saw my dress and told me I could board early. ATL to Punta Cana I ask if I could board early because of my Dress and they told me it was not a problem at all. I did try to upgrade but from Houston to ATL there were 9 people who were like gold members or something, so they couldn't do it and from ATL to Punta Cana, they said I could for a fee. I said no thanks because our flight was not even full.

Congratulations!! It sounded beautiful! We are getting married there on November 27, 2010 so your review was really helpful. Did you pick a specific wedding package or did you do it a la carte? We were told that even if you pick a wedding package, you have to pay an extra fee per person for open bar but it sounds like you got around that one! How many guests did you have? Where was your cocktail hour and where was the reception? Any other info or pics would be great!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
