Tensing Pen Brides?

Recommended Posts

:-D

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be working with Ari and moving to Villa Sur Mer! But that means our twinship will have to end because Ari is booked already for the 30th :-(

Of course I won't know anything for sure until the money is on the table and I won't have that for another couple of weeks - but I will still be an April 2011 bride! Yay!

I am getting married @ Tensing Pen on Oct. 2nd, 2010! We are reserved and I see you already have answers to most of your questions above. Please let me know if you still have questions, will do my best to help! We opted to rent out the entire property.

PS. Tensing Pen just changed over management/ownership in February , so that may be affecting some of your response times. My experience with Evelyn and Camille has been quite pleasant, although it is occassionally on "Island Time"

Hello,

We book awhile ago for Tensing Pen for the weekend of April 15th-18th 2011.. we booked the entire hotel for the weekend, I think that is the way to go for a destination wedding. The staff I have been in contact with have been very nice and pleasant. I agree with asking all the questions you can before you book, but book quickly... Dates get picked up really quick!! I've been to Jamica 2 times already and I am familiar with the people and the area... I couldn't find a better place on earth to be married.

it's so great to get some info from people that are planning on going with TP for their wedding. Our date is 6/11/11. planning does seems a bit difficult sometimes, but shanique sent me all of the approved vendors and yes there is a $500 fee for non-approved vendors. the other part that seems strange is that they say for the cake 7 flowers & decor just tell us what you want & then we come up with a quote, where I would just like to be able to get some options with different prices so I can make decisions based on the price of different items. I am not even sure what kind of decor they can accommodate. I would love to use local flowers & plan on a lot of DIY decor so there is a lot to do! Would love any advice on the cake, photographer, food (what was tasty), bar, etc.

I suggest you contact the vendors directly for quotes instead of going thru Tensing Pen. I've been speaking with Rosemarie at Floral Fantasy (one of the approved vendors) and she has been AMAZING. She's quick to respond and has offered many different options to fit our budget. I'm still deciding on photographer but did see a bad review of True Colors on Tripadvisor. I met my fiance at his sister's wedding at Tensing Pen in 2006. We loved the experience so much we decided to have our wedding there as well. All of the food we had was great. I'd suggest anything with smoked marlin if you like fish. We also decided to give a choice been the filet and lobster thermidor as our main course. Both are very good! I'm not sure what bar suggestions you are looking for but we are doing a limited open bar during cocktail hour and then 2 hours open bar during the reception. We plan to open a tab and charge any drinks after that to our room. Tensing use to allow going tab only but now they require you to purchase a bar option.

Hey guys! I'm getting married 6/17/11 at TP - wedding weekend is 6/16-6/18. My FH and I had been there on vacation about a year and a half ago and just went end of May to meet with the wedding coordinator, etc. I did NOT want to plan the entire thing over email and wanted to see some of the rooms, see what the options were, how custom the wedding could be, etc. I was nervous because of their slowness to respond over email and everything but in-person all my fears were put to rest. Shanique, the wedding coordinator, is new (been there a few months) and is really trying to step up the wedding services there (she was at one of the resorts on the beach before - Grand Palladium I think).

I feel like I have a lot of the details planned already but definitely think you guys are going to be able to help (and hopefully I can help you as well!).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
