My planning's going great. This past Sat was the deadline for our guests to put their deposits down to get the early booking bonus and 50 ppl paid! We have about 15-20 more that will book later this year. Next thing will just be getting FI's outfit and the wedding party attire. I'm getting very excited :)

Bonjour peeps!

It´s been yonks since i´ve been on here, work has gone mental, working 7 days a week now, and it´s so hot!!!! But now i have the benefit of a kidney infection so i´ve got a couple of days of work.....

Have finally bought a dress, but not a wedding dress. I tried loads on, and i just felt like a numpty in all of them. Long dresses are just not me, so as i was walking through one of the villages near where we live i saw a gorgeous royal blue/purple dress in the window of a shop, tried it on the next day and loved it.... it´s strapless and beaded and floaty knee-length chiffon and i loved it as soon as i put it on. Plus it only cost 300€, bonus! And they will alter it for free.

It doesn´t matter that I´m not wearing white right? We don´t generally do things that traditionally anyway and i reckon bright purple will look great with all the green of the gardens and the fushia flowers i´d like.

Nice to be back!

Jo

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi all! New to this forum ... silly me... I started a January 2011 bride thread a few moments ago not realizing there already was one! I'm getting married at the Grand Palladium on January 19th, 2011... I booked the date 2 weeks ago, bought my dress, booked my photographer (Del Sol...amazing!), booked a DJ (dj MANNIA...also amazing)... and 27 flights are booked so far! Not bad for my crash wedding planning!

I'm wondering what you guys are doing for the groom/ groomsmen's attire? I just came to the realization that they should probably buy it soon since summer clothes will be out of season before we know it!

Wow 50 peps - plus more on the way - thats great!!! I could never think about having that many attend but then we are travelling from England! Good to hear the planning is coming along great - i seem really chilled out about the planning I have stuck to my rule of buying little things as and when the money is there or I genuinely see something I want and keep crossing bits off - but then due to this forum keep adding things to the list as well - lol!

Hey, welcome along - you are so organised!
My FI is going along the linen suit line, white shirt and leather flip flops. But we have yet to buy anything yet - but yes we need to get our butts in gear as the summer clothes are not in the shops for long here.
Went on a shopping trip with my mum and aunt last week for their wedding outfits for the same reason but trying to get FI to go shopping is near on impossible!!!x

Hi there, welcome!

My other half was going to be in the cream linen shebang, but after forcing him to look at a zillion photos of other peoples weddings he's decided he wants charcoal grey trousers, waistcoat and prop a coloured shirt..... not my first choice, but to be honest as long as he turns up, i'm happy!

Wow, just finished reading all the pages and can't wait to join the discussions! I am a January 24, 2011 bride at the Azul Sensatori.

As for planning, well I always feel I have no idea what I'm doing but: STD were sent out months ago. We found a wonderful travel agency who deals with nothing but destination weddings, so tons of knowledge (Weddings By Oceans), and they got us amazing pricing for our resort. We put down a deposit to hold seats on the plane, and sent out the invitations about 2 weeks ago. I know it might seem a little early, but we want to give everyone enough time to plan for it. Have an amazing photographer booked, Taylor Jackson, he's cute as a button! Found my BM dresses. And accidently found my dress just the other day. I ended up buying a dress, that is nothing like what I had pictured! But I tried it on and knew it was the one :) Once I figure out how to upload a picture I will post it(but I am horrible at computers)

Now have to deal with finding GM clothing and preparing OOT bags. We plan on trying to buy a lot of the stuff to go into the OOT bags in Mexico, it will save a lot of room and weight in our bags. (chocolates, postcards to be used instead of a guest book, local craft/art?, etc)

Anyway so excited to be joining all of you, and can't wait to chit chat!

Welcome! Saw ya in the other 2011 thread and wanted to say hi! Wow you have quite a lot done! I can't wait to see your dress!

I have my dress as well, STD's sent out, BM dresses ordered, GM attire picked out but waiting for them all to get measured, and that's about it. We have booked a site visit July 26-29 and I cannot wait to see the resort and get more things checked off the list!!!

We will hopefully have a very productive trip and pick out our wedding package, reception venue, menu, flowers, etc., meet with photographer, and get hair/makeup trial -- smile36.gif pheeww, that's a lot to do in 4 days!

You mentioned getting amazing pricing for your resort -- would you mind sharing what kind of rates you were able to get? We are working with Beach Bum Vacation, also DW specialists. But we did not go the group rate route, and instead are doing individual bookings because we think guests will ultimately get a better deal. I am always curious as to what rates others are getting because I want to make sure we are getting the best rates possible for our guests. The only thing stressing me out about planning our wedding is how much it's costing our guestsfrown.gif

We have guests coming from all over Canada. So we only arranged for group rates from Toronto and Ottawa. But our TA managed to arranage a special land only rate (ie hotel cost), so our guests just have to get a flight, if they are travelling from anywhere other than Toronto and Ottawa. I am not sure I can post the prices, but take a look at my website under the Travel Info section. All the info is listed there.

And a picture of my dress: http://72.232.198.18/manufcols/prono...om/Deseo_B.jpg
So not what I had expected to wear, but it's very romantic and I feel a little Spanish looking :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
