Ha, I totally wanted to start packing stuff already and I still have 11 weeks to go!  The only thing keeping me from starting is that we need the spare room for visitors before then!

Hello January brides! I just now found this thread, but am also getting married January 28 at Riu Palace Riviera Maya. We have 34 people booked so far. I am just sooo excited. It was stressful in the beginning but now that invites are out, and most people have booked, I havent really done a lot of planning the past month. Just dropped off my dress last week to get altered and I cannot WAIT to see it. It was like 2 sizes too big when I bought it... had no idea the alterations for that would be $300! Yikes.

So I saw some people discussing colors, I'm doing aqua and fuschia. Is anyone else doing that?

I'd like to know where you all found your shoes? I'm looking for flip flops that maybe sparkle or have some kind of wedding flair to them. Also want to find a pretty white flower for my hair. Any suggestions?

I haven't started packing, but I have little piles of wedding stuff all over the house right now! I should really at least put it all in the same place LOL. Still trying to figure out final details, ie. reception food, music, etc. At least we finally got out and ordered our wedding bands yesterday. Mine is suppose to be done in about 2 weeks, FI will be done just before Christmas. We got our paper laterns in the mail yesterday, now I have to order the stuff to make the LED throwies. In the next few weeks I am also sending out a pre-departure brochure to our guests and luggage tags. (we have 63 people coming now, so that DIY project got much larger than planned) Still working on OOT bags.

Me too! Plus some of our guests will be at the house before they fly down for our wedding.

I have to get miy dress dropped off at my seamstress as well. I fear the alteration cost is going to be quite high....

We are doing turquoise, green and white.

Still looking for shoes. As for hair flowers, I would suggest Etsy. I am sure you'll find something you love and the prices are really great.

murmel,

I just noticed the resort and date that you are getting married.  A friend of mine at work's brother is getting married at the same resort just a few days before you.  They have a huge group going, something like 80 people so I'm sure you'll see them if you are there then.

Thanks for the reminders about the wedding band.  We have mine because he bought it as a set with my engagement ring but we haven't even looked for his yet.  I guess we had better get going on that since it's just over 2 months away for us now.

For white flip flops, the company weddingstar has some really cute plain ones with little rinestones on the straps.  Victoria Secret also has quite a few different ones in white but they are a little more casual.  I have some little white sandals with a heal that I picked up in the summer but I think that I will order the ones from weddingstar too this weekend so I have another more comfortable option.

I want a white flower for my hair too but I haven't found anything that I love so I'm thinking about getting a real flower instead.  Any thoughts or suggestions about real flowers vs. fake?

So glad to hear that other people are thinking the same way that we are.  We are legally signing the papers here in Canada this coming friday at city hall but for us it is just a formality and will consider January 10 as our real wedding date.  We asked our neighbours to be our witnesses but aren't telling any of our guests that are going ot Mexico with us, even our parents.  I also think it will make our ceremony on the beach that much more special and no one needs to know differently.

Don't feel bad, we leave for Mexico on january 6th and we still have a million things to do too!  I need to make a list and start moving though cause it's coming so fast now.

I can't believe we're so close to January! I leave in exactly 3 months from tomorrow, and I totally do NOT feel prepared. I still have to make up a music playlist for the reception, get FI a wedding ring, make a decision about OOT bags or not (and if I decide yes, I need to actually get stuff!), buy clothes for the trip, PAY for the trip, get my wedding dress altered...aack! I'm stressed.

FI and I got legally married last Friday. We had a friend of his sign the wedding license...no words spoken, it was super low-key, to make the ceremony in Mexico that much more special. I don't feel married AT ALL and I won't until January 31st :)

How is everyone else doing? Anybody as far behind as me?

There are a couple of big one going on that week! I know there is a huge Indian wedding on the 21 (100 guests), it's going to be rocking down there!

As for hair flowers, I am sure fake or real will both work. Just if you go with real, let them choose the flower locally. (they'll know what is in season and will last in the heat)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
