I see you're looking for someone to share a photographer? do you already have one picked out? we're not sure we're looking to do that- but let me know the details/costs and I'll see

any word on how the barcelo photographers are?
i've heard poor things about the 'foto carribe' which is the hotel photographers... if you want to book an outside photographer you need to purchase them 1roomx2 nights... thats the only way that the hotel allows external photographers...

not sure if anyone has mentioned this site yet

Yes, I am looking for someone to share with. I am kind of looking at someone from my area, but haven't made any decisions yet. Was also thinking of using Sascha Gluck, but if I can bring someone whose work I like as much or more for the same cost then I would prefer to do that. I'm not sure how sharing would work out with us though MrsC, since our ceremonies are only an hour apart. :)

I have checked out the Unnoficial Barcelo Maya Forum, actually I have a post on there too about sharing a photog! There have been reviews and comments on there and in this forum about Foto Caribbean (or Photo Caribbean) and a lot of them haven't been flattering. There was one bride whose photos they lost and then tried to pass off stills from the video as the pictures!

I can't say there haven't been good reviews because there are some, but I find personally, strictly my own taste, that most of their work looks amateur and cheesy and not worth what they charge for it. I have relatives with nice cameras who could take the same photo quality for way less money.

I also don't appreciate that Barcelo makes you pay either a $300 outside vendor fee or a one or two night stay for a local professional photographer to come in. They do hundreds of weddings a year, you'd think they would offer a better photography option for such an important event.

Sorry, that was a bit of a rant! rant.gif

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I am progressing in the planning! I think we have picked out invitations and STD's. Now if I can get the FI to get me his list of invitees we will be doing well. He is scheduled to be home this weekend and should be around for at least a week (he travels for work) so I might be able to corner him.

Dress is bought and shoes are as well. I am on a diet and trying to work out more.

When he is home I was going to see if we can get someone to take some pictures to use on our STD's. I am also thinking about the registry, photography, and "theme" of the wedding.

How about all of you?

I've sent out my STD's this past January, we just got our group rate last week so the last of the invites are going out today (FI and I are making them ourselves), my dress has been bought, & photographer has her deposit. Next is to find FI's outfit and for the wedding party. I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made and now that people can book I'm really excited to see who will actually be coming!

Hello ladies! wink.gif How's the planning going for everyone? It's been quiet on here for a couple weeks, so hopefully everything is ok.

Is anyone planning on having their reception out on the beach? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the upgrade to have it out there. Do you think it might be too cool or windy or buggy?

Hi Ladies!

I am so new to this site, I can barely figure out how to use it.

**Sigh** i should read the threads with instructions!!

i will be getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace...January 15th. Wedding ceremony is booked for 5pm. I am hoping for the Gazebo but I see Daily2011...you have it booked for 4pm.

Daily2011: I don't want to interupt your day...but do you think 1 hour is enough for your party?

Let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
